Prepare to Install
1
Install the lock on the side of the door with the widest part of the door frame exposed. Facing the door, check to see if your door knob is on
the left or right. If your door knob is on the left, follow Figure 1a. If it's on the right, follow Figure 1b.
Close the door and release the door handle, allowing
the door to settle to its natural closed position.
NOTE: It is recommended that the bottom of the
template be positioned at least 60"
(1.52 meters) from the floor so the
lock will be out of a child's reach.
2
Fold the template at the appropriate
"FOLD" line for the orientation of
your door. Place the fold into corner
where the door meets the door
jamb (Figure 1).
3
Use a pencil to draw lines through the
slots in the template on the door side
and door jamb (see image). Remove
template.
To Install
1
Remove adhesive
backing paper from the
catch. Align the catch
to the "U" shaped pencil
mark on the door so
that the bottom and side
edges line up (Figure 2a,
3a). Press firmly for 30
seconds.
2
Open door.
3
Remove adhesive backing
paper from the latch pivot.
Position latch pivot so that
the bottom edge lines up
with the pencil mark on
the door jamb. Press firmly
for 30 seconds. Allow the adhesive to cure for at least 24 hours to reach
full strength.
4
Slide the latch hook over the post on the latch pivot. Using a
screwdriver, attach the cap to the post with the latch screw provided.
This will secure the latch hook (Figure 4a).
NOTE: The latch hook opening needs to face the door as shown
(Figure 4a).
NOTE: The latch hook should be able to swing freely.
5
Close the door. Latch hook should engage with catch. Open the door. It will
open approximately 3" (Figure 4b).
NOTE: There is a built in stop to prevent pinching fingers.
To override the stop and close the door, lift the lock up to remove the latch
hook from the catch. The latch automatically resets itself when you close the
door.
CAUTION: When using the lock, make sure the door is completely closed to
ensure latch fully engages.
Open door and lift the latch up to remove the latch hook from the catch.
To Use
TO LOCK: Close door.
TO UNLOCK AND OPEN DOOR:
Open door and lift the latch up to remove the latch hook from the lock.
TO DEACTIVATE FOR PERIODS OF NON-USE: Open Door. Press tabs on either
side of the catch and slide up to the red, unlocked position until it clicks into
place (Figure 5a).
TO REACTIVATE: Slide catch down to the green, locked position (Figure 5b).
