3. Create a siphon from your aquarium using the water/effluent tubing (23) or use the flow
from the supply pump into the water supply tubing (21). You should be able to see the
water passing through the water flow indicator (8). Fully open the valve on the water flow
indicator and then hang it in a suitable position.
4. Once the water intake system is operating you should see a steady flow of water passing
through the water flow indicator chamber (8). If this does not happen after a couple of
minutes there may be excess air in the water supply tubing or reactor. To help clear this
air, remove the end of the water supply tubing (21) from the sump or aquarium and hold it
below the level of the calcium reactor until the air clears and water is flowing freely. Place
the water supply tubing (210 back into the sump.
5. Ensuring that you have correctly followed the installation instructions supplied with the
CO
regulator, turn on the CO

6. Shut off the needle valve on your CO

7. Adjust the water flow indicator control valve (8a) so that the water flow from the reactor
into the sump or aquarium is approximately 60 drops per minute (1 per second). Please
note: when adjusting the water flow indicator control valve you will notice a
corresponding change in the water flow within the water flow indicator chamber (8) - this
is perfectly normal.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

By constantly dosing CO
(reaction chamber) will begin to fall. At low pH levels, such as 6-7, the media (coral gravel) will
slowly start to dissolve, releasing calcium bicarbonate and other trace elements which are
readily consumed by corals and are essential for their growth.

GENERAL OPERATION

1. Allow the calcium reactor to stabilise and operate for at least 24 hours before making any
adjustments.
2. After a period of 24 hours the pH of the water exiting the REEF-React should be at a
lower level than that of your aquarium. This will indicate that the reactor is operating
correctly. You can let the effluent fill a cup and test this with a test kit for pH, calcium and
dKH at the same time.
3. If after 24 hours the pH of the water exiting the REEF-React is the same as that of your
aquarium then carefully increase the amount of CO
counter to approximately 30 bubbles per minute (1 bubble every 2 seconds).
Please note: The adjusted CO
desired pH level is achieved and care should be taken to avoid excessive CO
