in the telescoping pole (8) as far as the stop
on the hedge trimmer head (11). Then turn
the lock nut (9) on the head trimmer head
(11) clockwise until it is tight.
•
Hook the carabiner (A) of the harness (5) into
the strap attachment on the pole (4)(Fig. 4).
5.2 Using the shoulder strap
Warning! Always use the shoulder strap when
working with the equipment. Switch off the equip-
ment before you take off the shoulder strap (risk
of injury).
1. Hook the carabiner (Fig. 4/Item A) into the
strap holder.
2. Slip the shoulder strap (Fig. 5/Item 5) over
your shoulder.
3. Adjust the length of the shoulder strap so that
the strap attachment is at waist level (Fig. 5).
4. The shoulder strap is equipped with a buckle.
Press the hooks together (Fig. 6) if you need
to put down the equipment quickly.
5. To change the strap position on the tool, sla-
cken the wing nut (Fig. 4/Item B) by turning it
counterclockwise and move the strap attach-
ment to the desired position on the pole (Fig.
4/ Item 4). Then retighten the wing nut (Fig. 4/
Item B) by turning it clockwise.
5.3 Adjusting the angle of the motor housing
(Fig. 3)
Press the two safety lock-off s (10) and adjust the
angle of the motor housing (11) to any of 6 lat-
ching positions.
5.4 Adjusting the telescopic tube (Fig. 3)
1. Undo the telescopic tube lock nuts (7) by tur-
ning them counter-clockwise.
2. Pull out the telescopic tubes (8) to suit the
required working height.
3. Secure the telescopic tube lock nuts (7) by
them turning clockwise.
5.5 Fitting the battery (Fig. 7)
Push the battery (13) into the provided battery
mount as shown in Fig. 7. Listen for an audible
click to be sure that the battery latches in place.
To remove the battery (13), press the pushlock
button (C) and pull out the battery to the rear.
5.6 Charging the battery (Fig. 7, 8)
1. Take the battery pack out of the equipment.
Do this by pressing the pushlock button (C).
2. Check that your mains voltage is the same as
that marked on the rating plate of the battery

charger. Insert the power plug of the charger
(14) into the mains socket outlet. The green
LED will then begin to fl ash.
3. Insert the battery pack (13) into the battery
charger (14).
4. In the section entitled „Charger indicator" you
will fi nd a table with an explanation of the LED
indicator on the charger.
The battery pack can become a little warm during
the charging. This is normal.
If the battery pack fails to charge, check:
•
whether there is voltage at the socket outlet
•
whether there is good contact at the charging
contacts.
If the battery pack still fails to charge, send
•
the charging unit
•
and the battery pack
to our customer service center.
To ensure that items are properly packaged
and delivered when you send them to us,
please contact our customer service or the
point of sale at which the equipment was
purchased.
When shipping or disposing of batteries and
cordless tools, always ensure that they are
packed individually in plastic bags to prevent
short circuits and fi res.
To ensure that the battery pack provides long ser-
vice, you should take care to recharge it promptly.
You must recharge the battery pack when you
notice that the performance of the device drops.
Never allow the battery pack to become fully di-
scharged. This will cause it to develop a defect.
5.7 Battery capacity indicator (Fig. 1)
Press the button for the battery capacity indicator
(F). The battery capacity indicator (G) shows the
charge status of the battery using 3 LEDs.
All 3 LEDs are lit:
The battery is fully charged.
2 or 1 LED(s) are lit:
The battery has an adequate remaining charge.
1 LED fl ashes:
The battery is empty, recharge the battery.
