Safety precautions
The cleaner should only be used by
adults and only for normal vacuuming
in a domestic environment. The vacuum
cleaner features double insulation and
does not need to be earthed.
Never vacuum:
•
In wet areas.
•
Close to flammable gases etc.
•
Without Ergobox to avoid damaging
the cleaner. A safety device is fitted,
which prevents the cover closing
without Ergobox. Do not attempt to
force the cover shut.
•
When housing shows visible signs of
damage.
Never vacuum:
Sharp objects.
•
•
Fluids (this can cause serious damage
to the machine).
•
Hot or cold cinders, lit cigarette
butts, etc.
•
Fine dust, for example from plaster,
concrete, flour, hot or cold ashes.
The above may cause serious damage to
the motor – damage which is not covered
by the warranty.
Electrical cable precautions:
•
A damaged cable should only be
replaced by an authorised Electrolux
service centre.
•
Damage to the machine's cable is not
covered by the warranty.
•
Never pull or lift the vacuum cleaner
by the cable.
•
Disconnect the plug from the mains
before cleaning or maintenance of the
vacuum cleaner.
•
Regularly check that the cable is not
damaged. Never use the vacuum
cleaner if the cable is damaged.
All servicing and repairs must be carried out
by an authorised Electrolux service centre. Be
sure to keep the vacuum cleaner in a dry place.

Before starting
Open the front cover on the machine and
check that Ergobox and the filters are in
place. (See also Replacement of filter(s))
Insert the hose until the catches
13
click to engage (press the catches to
release the hose).
Insert the hose into the hose handle
3*
until the catches click to engage
(press the catches to release the
hose).
Attach the extension tubes* or tele-
14
scopic tube* to the hose handle
and nozzle by pushing and twisting
together* or until the catches click*.
(Twist and pull apart* or press the
catches* to dismantle.)
Extend the electric cable and connect
15
it to the mains. The vacuum cleaner
is fitted with a cable winder. Once the
electric cable has been extended, it
stays in that position.
To rewind the cable, give it a slight
16
sharp pull and then release. The
cable will then automatically rewind.
Power Regulation: Twist the power
17*
control to the right to start the vacu-
um cleaner and increase the suction
power. Twist the power control to the
left to decrease suction power, and
further to the left to turn it off. Adjust
suction power by using the suction
control on the hose handle.
Practical parking positions (and at
18
the same time a backsaving feature)
when you pause during cleaning or
when you carry and store the vacuum
cleaner.
You can carry the vacuum cleaner
19
using the handle on top or on the
lower front edge of the machine.
Keep the hose in place while storing
20
the vacuum cleaner by extending
ergoshock™ and placing it across
the hose.
Getting the best results
To get the best performance, use the
cleaner at full power position. If the power
setting is at 50%, then the filter will clog
more quickly.
Use the nozzles as follows:
Use the carpet/hard floor nozzle
Carpets:
with the lever* in position (32). Reduce
suction power for small carpets.
Use the carpet/hard floor
Hard floors:
nozzle with the lever* in position (33).
floors:Use the parquet nozzle*
Wooden
(11).Upholstery:
Curtains, lightweight fab-
rics, etc.: Use the upholstery function of
the small combination nozzle* (5b)/uphol-
stery nozzle (7). Reduce suction power if
necessary.
*Certain models only. **Execution depending on model.
Use the
Frames, bookshelves, etc.:
dusting brush function of the small com-
bination nozzle* (5a)/Easy clean kit* (12).
Using the Easy clean kit: The Easy clean kit has to
be fi xed between the tube and the handle (12). Take
the duster out of the container to clean fragile objects,
frames, bookshelves, etc.(12a) Pull the trigger to clean
the duster(12b). The airfl ow created in the container
cleans the duster and maintains a static charge.
Use the crevice
Crevices, corners, etc.:
nozzle (6).
Store upholstery and crevice nozzle with
the clip on the hose handle*.
Using the turbo nozzle*
Adjust the suction power by opening
21
or closing the air vent.
Note: Do not use the turbo nozzle on skin
rugs, rugs with long fringes or a pile depth
exceeding 15 mm. To avoid damaging the car-
pet, do not keep the nozzle stationary whilst
the brush is rotating. Do not pass the nozzle
across electric cables, and be sure to switch off
the vacuum cleaner immediately after use.
Emptying Ergobox
The more often you empty Ergobox, the less
often you will get the filter clogged. It must
be emptied before reaching the max mark on
Ergobox.
The filter clogging indicator turns
22
to red when the filter needs to be
cleaned or replaced.
Grasp Ergobox and lift it out as
23
shown in the illustration.
Place it with the transparent part
24
underneath and pull the catch to
remove the metal fastening. under-
neath and pull the catch to remove
the metal fastening.
Remove the cover (rear part) carefully
25
and empty possible remaining dust.
Empty the transparent (front) part.
26
Cleaning Ergobox
After having separated the front and the rear
part, and after removing the HEPA filter,
wash it under a tap or a shower. It is also
possible to wash it in a dish washer. Use of
detergent might make Ergobox opaque but this
will not affect the efficiency. Make sure it is
dry before putting it back.
Cleaning the washable
HEPA filter
Always make sure that the filter you put in
Ergobox is completely dry and clean. It is
recommended to wash the HEPA filter each
time Ergobox is emptied.
Turn the washable HEPA filter anti-
27
clockwise and pull it away.
Wash it with a brush under a tap or wash it
in a washing machine (max. temperature 60°).
Let the filter dry before putting it back.
