INTRODUCTION
These instructions and the information contained within the product datasheet must be read thoroughly as they contain valuable information
gained by extensive experience. It is very important that all instructions are carefully followed and where appropriate they should be incorporated
into the end user's standard operating procedures. Use of this product in a manner other than in accordance with Pall's current
recommendations may lead to injury or loss. Pall cannot accept liability for such injury or loss.
SPECIFICATIONS
The maximum working pressure and temperature can vary between capsule assembly types or filter media. Please check the datasheet and
labelling for details, or contact Pall or your local distributor. Short term exposure to pressurized air or nitrogen above the maximum working
pressure is allowable for integrity testing of filter capsule assemblies.
Please consult Pall for details. Operation outside the specifications and with fluids incompatible with construction materials may cause personal
injury and result in damage to the equipment.
Incompatible fluids are fluids that chemically attack, soften, stress, attack or adversely affect the materials of construction.
Please refer to Pall for exact limits.
STATIC ELECTRICITY
WARNING! USE OF THE PALL INDUSTRIAL CAPSULE ASSEMBLIES WITH LOW CONDUCTIVITY LIQUIDS CAN RESULT IN THE
ACCUMULATION OF A STATIC CHARGE. THIS HAZARD WILL BE INTERMITTENT AND WILL DEPEND ON ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS SUCH
AS HUMIDITY
For guidance, low conductivity liquids may be considered as those with a conductivity below 50 pS/m. Aqueous solutions with a conductivity
above 50 pS/m.
But care should always be taken to prevent the likelihood of static damage.
When static charge is accumulated, both the filter capsule and the liquid leaving the assembly will retain the charge.
Pipe work upstream and downstream of the filter assembly should be of conductive materials and grounded.
Care should be taken when removing the filter capsule from pipe work to avoid static discharge. It may be necessary to allow time for the static
charge to dissipate before removal. Internal static discharge within a charged filter capsule may result in damage to the filter media. For further
information please contact Pall.
RECEIPT OF EQUIPMENT
WARNING! PLEASE CHECK THE PRODUCT LABEL PRIOR TO USE TO ENSURE PRODUCT PART NUMBERS CORRESPOND TO THE
APPLICATION
(a) Unpack carefully and check items against invoice
(b) Store the filter capsule assembly in clean, dry conditions between 0 °C and 30 °C (32 °F and 86 °F) without exposure to irradiation
sources like direct sunlight, and wherever practical in the packaging as delivered. Ensure that pre-wet capsules are stored above 0 °C
(32 °F) to avoid freezing.
(c) DO NOT remove the filter capsule from packaging until just before installation.
(d) Check that the product, bag or packaging is undamaged as received. Damaged items should not be used.
(e) Filter capsule assemblies may contain filter medium that is supplied pre-wet and such items must be used immediately after removal from
the packaging.
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION
WARNING! PLEASE ENSURE YOU CHECK THE SYSTEM FOR LEAKS PRIOR TO INTRODUCTION OF PROCESS FLUID
Installation
Install the capsule assembly in-line using compatible connections. Ensure that it is installed in the correct orientation for flow from the inlet to the
outlet and is adequately supported. Most capsules have the flow direction indicated on the filter assembly.
(a) If valves and inlet/outlet connectors are protected by plastic caps, the caps should be removed prior to use.
(b) For capsules suitable for vent applications, flow can be in either direction, but must be maintained within the specifications.
(c) Liquid filter capsule assemblies can be positioned in any orientation, providing that effective venting of the filter can be carried out before
and during operation and in accordance with the flow direction arrow annotated on the filter capsule.
