CAUTION: To prevent accidents, make sure to turn the switch off and disconnect to the plug from the
power receptacle.
CAUTION: Repair, modification and inspection must be must be carried out by a LEMAN Authorized Service
Center.
In the operation and maintenance of power tools, the safety regulations and standards prescribed in each country
must be observed.
1. Inspecting the machine
- Keep the machine clean.
- Since use of a dull tool will degrade efficiency and cause possible motor malfunction, replace the tool as soon as
abrasion is noted.
- All plastic parts should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth. NEVER use solvents to clean plastic parts. They could
possibly dissolve or damage the material.
- Clean the vacuum swivel connector.
-
Regularly inspect all mounting screws and ensure that they are properly tightened. Should any of the screws be
loose, retighten them immediately. Failure to do so could result in serious hazard.
2. Maintenance of the motor
The motor unit winding is the very "heart" of the power tool. Exercise due care to ensure the winding does not
become damaged and/or wet with oil or water.
- For safe and proper working, always keep the machine and ventilation slots clean.
- Periodically blow out all air passages with dry compressed air.
3. Changing the sponge backing pad and the sanding plate (Fig 3 & 6)
The sponge pad (13) and the sanding plate must be perfectly flat to get good sanding results. If they are deformed
or damaged it will cause very uneven sanding. Always replace them when damaged.
Sponge backing pad:
- Peel the sanding disc (12) away.
- Peel the sponge backing pad (13) away from the sanding plate Base and, taking great care to keep it perfectly
centered, affix a new one.
Sanding plate:
- Peel the sanding disc (12) and the sponge backing pad (13) away.
- Hold the sanding plate in one hand and with the other, using the L-Hex wrench (supplied), first break free the
center bolt clockwise (1/8 turn only!).
- Then only use the L-Hex wrench to hold the center bolt from turning and spin off the sanding plate
counterclockwise.
- Replacement is the opposite of removal.
4. Inspecting the carbon brushes (Fig 5)
The Motor employs carbon brushes which are consumable parts. When they become worn to or near the "wear
limit", it could result in motor trouble. The power tool must then be sent to an after-sales service agent.
When you have to replacement the carbon brushes by yourself, please following the order:
- Both carbon brushes should be replaced at the same time.
- Use only identical carbon brushes.
- Loosen and remove the two brush covers (9) on both sides of the motor housing.
- Remove the carbon brushes.
- After replacing the carbon brushes, reinstall and screw the two brush covers (9).
5. Changing the the sanding plate cover (Fig 6 to 8)
The brush bristles on the edge of the sanding plate cover (7) serve two purposes:
- They keep the sanding disc properly aligned with the work surface without gouging.
- They also help the efficiency of the dust collection by the vacuum cleaner.
These brush bristles will wear with continued use and the sanding plate cover should be replaced when the bristles
are too worn to ensure effective dust collection and stabilization of the sanding head.
