6 hours after stopping the vacuum pump (time required for the system to stabilise), take note of the pressure trend for
at least 24 hours.
ATTENTION! If at the beginning the pressure rises regularly and stabilises at a value corresponding to
the saturation voltage of the residual water at room temperature, this means that the system is sealed
but still contains water. If however the pressure does not stabilise but increases this means that the
system in addition to containing water is not sealed. In both cases the operation must be repeated and
the leaks eliminated.
If the pressure does not exceed 0.5 mbar within 12 hours, the system can be considered dehydrated and perfectly
sealed.
N.B. This value is valid for any system volume, it is wrong to assume that for large volumes it is possible to accept
values higher than 0.5 mbar.
N.B. All these operations must only be performed by specialist technical personnel.
Charging the refrigerant
This operation must be carried out after the system has been declared perfectly sealed.
Connect the cylinder (also empty the connecting pipe) to the high pressure circuit, downstream of the condensers;
Introduce gassified CO
Make sure that the temperature in the compressor crankcase is above 30 °C.
When the internal pressure of the system is higher than 7bar, it takes less time to use liquid CO
Check the CO
level (electronic sensor);
2
Use only CO
with a 99.9% purity;
2
Turn on a compressor to reduce the pressure in the intake circuit and complete charging.
For start-up and adjustment operations of the refrigeration unit, refer to the instructions of the manufacturer of the controller
DANGER! DO NOT use the connection of the intake line to charge the liquid; always use the
connection on the liquid line.
This phase is the most dangerous because an excess of refrigerant flow can cause a return of
excessive liquid to the compressor, damaging it.
DANGER! Make sure that the internal pressure of the cylinder is lower than that of the system. In case
of discharge directly into the atmosphere, install the discharge pipe and pay attention to any ice
formations.
Draining the refrigerant
Use the same valves and the same procedure as for charging.
Drain the refrigerant when in the gaseous state
Start-up
Disconnect the electrical power supply;
Open the control panel and switch off the thermal magnetic circuit breakers of the compressors;
Power up the control panel by carefully following all the safety procedures envisaged when working with live parts;
Proceed with programming using the user manuals of the respective electronic controls;
Start the secondary condensation fluid system (if present) following the respective user manual;
Check that all the circulation valves are open and that the service valves are not closed;
Turn on one compressor at a time;
Check that the system is sufficiently charged with CO
Check the calibration of the system safety switches;
Constantly monitor the system pressure through the pressure gauges and the pressure switch calibration;
Make sure that the CO
In case of maintenance or replacement of some parts of the system, close the circulation valves making sure that there
is no CO
between them; to do this, use the appropriate drain valves or proceed manually using the relief valves;
2
Check that the safety valve discharge path is completely free from obstructions.
Check that the gas-cooler fans are connected and working properly.
