Fuel Recommendations
Fuel must meet these requirements:
• Clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline with
• A minimum of 87 octane / 87AKI (90 RON).
• Gasoline with up to 10% ethanol (gasahol) or up to
15% MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether) is acceptable.
• CAUTION: DO NOT use unapproved gasoline, such
as E85. Do not mix oil in gasoline or modify the engine
to run on alternative fuels. This will damage the engine
components and void the engine warranty.
The engine on this equipment is certified to operate on
gasoline. The emissions control system for this engine
is EM (Engine Modifications).
High Altitude
At altitudes over 5,000 feet (1524 meters), a minimum
85 octane/85 AKI (89 RON) gasoline is acceptable.
To remain emissions compliant, high altitude adjust-
ment is required. Operation without this adjustment will
cause decreased
performance, increased fuel con-
sumption, and increased emissions.
Operation of the engine at altitudes below 2,500 feet
(762 meters) with the high altitude kit is not recom-
mended.

Propelling the Mower

1. Start the engine.
2. Push the drive control (A, Figure 8) completely
forward. When the drive control clicks, release the
drive control. The drive system is now engaged.
3. To disengage the drive system and stop the
engine, completely release the blade control (B).
4. To disengage only the drive system, release the
blade control approximately two inches (5 cm).
The drive system will disengage but the engine will
continue to run.
NOTE: When the drive system is disengaged on a new
unit, it is possible for the front wheels to rotate if lifted
off the ground. This is normal and will stop after one or
two hours of operation.
!
For safe operation, the drive system must immediately
disengage when the blade control is released. If the drive
system does not disengage correctly, do not operate the
mower until the drive system is adjusted or repaired by an
authorized dealer.
