SYMPTOMS

lubrication circuit in neu-
tral or drive positions
2) Low oil pressure with
drive engaged
3) High oil
temperature

CAUSES
1 - No oil in gearcase
2 - Suction filter completely clogged
3 - Pump drive coupling broken
1 - Oil level too low
2 - Incorrect position of gear shift lever
3 - Suction filter partially clogged
4 - Incorrect oil type
5 - Trolling lever in trolling range (if present)
1 - Water flow rate in oil cooler too low
2 - Oil cooler dirty
3 - Oil level too high or too low
4 - Incorrect oil type
5 - Clutch slipping
1 - Inefficient or erratic oil/water heat exchange
REMEDIES
- Fill with oil
8 - Remove and clean filter
8 - Remove pump and replace coupling
- Top up to level indicated
- Adjust control linkage
- Remove and clean filter
- Drain gearbox and fill with correct grade
- Deselect trolling mode
8 - Replace valves and pipelines with others
of larger internal diameter
8 - Clean oil cooler
- Restore normal level
- Drain gearbox and fill with correct grade
- Check operating pressure
8 - Replace oil cooler
