Operation
Note: The CMAF-1000 and CMAF-3000 require a multimeter (purchased separately) with the
following characteristics:
• Has voltage and common (negative) terminals with 3/4" centerline spacing
• Capable of measuring AC millivolts
1.
See the instruction manual supplied with the multimeter.
2.
Connect the CMAF-1000 or CMAF-3000 to the voltage input terminals of the multimeter.
Observe polarity.
3.
Set the multimeter and the CMAF according to the Settings Table.

4.
See Typical Measurements for illustrations of typical uses.
5.
Test the unit on a known functioning circuit or component.
• If the unit does not function as expected on a known functioning circuit, replace the battery.
• If the unit still does not function as expected, send the unit to Greenlee for repair.
6.
Take the reading from the circuit to be tested. Read the displayed value on the multimeter
and divide it by the range selected.
Notes:
• Avoid the proximity of other conductors that may create noise or interference.
• Select the highest output signal possible and the most sensitive meter range for this output.
• To increase the sensitivity or to measure on low currents, wrap the flexible sensor several
times around the conductor. Remember to divide the reading by the number of wraps for
the actual measurement.
