1 Taking measurements

and is not a complete/independent document. It describes how to take measurements with the EC Tester
Primo 5 and how to calibrate it. It also provides additional instructions for use.
NOTICE
• Before using the EC Tester Primo 5, read the manufacturer's relevant operating instructions
carefully. It provides you with all the information you need for safe, fault-free operation.
The operating instructions accompany the EC Tester upon delivery, or you can find them at
www.hannainst.de.
1 Taking measurements

1 Press the On/Off button (3) to turn on the EC Tester.
2 Insert the EC Tester in the opening of the expansion tank and submerge it in the coolant up to the
recommended immersion depth (4).
3 Move the EC Tester back and forth briefly to remove any air bubbles on the probe.
4 Wait until the measurement on the display (1) has stabilized.
5 Read the measurement and compare it with the recommended measurements.

If the EC Tester cannot be inserted into the opening of the expansion tank because the opening is not large
enough, proceed as follows:
1 Connect the liquid-cooled welding torch.
2 Switch on the power source.
3 Disconnect the return hose from the welding torch and hold it inside a clean, dry container.
4 Press the button on the welding torch and allow the coolant to run into the container.
5 As soon as the container is filled with sufficient coolant (at least 5 cm), switch off the power source and
end the filling process.
6 Press the On/Off button (3) to turn on the EC Tester.
7 Submerge the EC Tester in the coolant up to the recommended immersion depth (4).
8 Move the EC Tester back and forth briefly to remove any air bubbles on the probe.
9 Wait until the measurement on the display has stabilized.
10 Read the measurement and compare it with the recommended measurements.
