1. Obtain the appropriate inner packaging in
accordance with specifications listed in the 49 CFR.
2. Fold flaps on bottom of carton so that they meet.
Manufacturer's certification must be visible on the
outside of the carton. (See Figure 1)

3. Seal bottom of carton with three parallel strips of
2" wide (2.6 mil) polypropylene tape (Uline Model
# S-14564). The tape must overlap 0.5" side to side and
extend 3" over each end of the carton. (See Figure 2)

4. Line carton with included 3 mil poly bag. (See Figure 3)

5. Pour a minimum 2.74" even layer of Grade 4
vermiculite into the bottom of the poly bag.
6. Place each inner container into the poly bag in an
upright position. There must be a minimum of 2.16"
between containers and carton walls lengthwise
and 2.12" between containers and carton walls
widthwise.
7. Fill remaining space with Grade 4 vermiculite. There
must be a minimum of 2.74" of Grade 4 vermiculite
between top(s) of inner container(s) and top of carton.
8. Twist poly bag and seal with included 5.5" 40# cable tie.
(See Figure 4)

9. Fold flaps on top of carton so that they meet. "THIS
SIDE UP" must be visible on the outside of the carton.
10. Seal top of carton with three parallel strips of 2" wide
(2.6 mil) polypropylene tape (Uline Model # S-14564).
The tape must overlap 0.5" side to side and extend 3"
over each end of the carton. (See Figure 5)
