3.1 MIDI OVERVIEW
3.1.1 Top panel overview

1. Buttons
These buttons can transmit control change
messages. Each button can be used to send
continuous control data to a desktop audio
workstation or external MIDI device.
2. [Memory] button
Hold the Memory button and press one of the
pads to recall parameters stored in memory.
Press the Memory button. The system enters
the storing state where it can store up to 6
group's setup values.
3. Trigger pads
Pads can transmit note messages or control
change messages. The pads can be used to
trigger drum hits to your software or hardware
module. The pads are pressure and velocity
sensitive, which makes them very responsive
and intuitive to play.
Use the MIDI Software Editor to select the
backlight colour of the 64 pads (see section 5.2
for details).
4. [Note] button
The 64 pads have dual modes: trigger pads
mode and key note mode. Click the note
button to start the note mode of the 64 pads.
Then press the +/- button to increase or
decrease the current note by a semitone.
5. [Octave] button
Press the Octave button to start the Octave
function. Then use the +/- button to adjust the

octave from 0 to 4. Press DATA +/- buttons at
the same time to reset the octave to 0.

6. [A.Touch] button
Press the A.touch button to start the channel

aftertouch and keyboard aftertouch functions.
Channel aftertouch is activated when the

LED on the A.touch button is red. Keyboard

aftertouch is activated when the LED is blue.
When channel aftertouch is on, the system

sends channel aftertouch data when you press
the pads. When keyboard aftertouch is on, the

system sends keyboard aftertouch data when
9
you press the pads.
7. [Channel] button
Press the Channel button to start the
channel function. Use the +/-button to
select the channel.
8. [Velocity] button
Press the Velocity button to start the velocity
selection function. Medium = Green, Heavy =
Red, Constant = Blue.
9. [Mute] button
Mute on/off button. Pressing the mute button
will start the mute function. No message will be
transmitted under Mute mode.
10. [Volume] button
Volume button. Sends a General MIDI message
to the DAW.
11. [MMC] button
There are 6 buttons used for MIDI Machine
Control (MMC): [|<<], [<<], [>>], [O], [stop],
[play]. Use these to control your master
application's functions (eg DAW playback).
12. [<] and [>] button
These buttons are used for navigating through
menus and options.
