3 INTENDED USE

A pasture fence is used to fence in (herd) the farm animals and to deter or exclude the wild animals. At the
same time, it serves as a visual marking of property boundaries.
An electric fence consists of an electric fence energiser and an insulated fence, whereby the energiser
supplies the fence with short, electrical impulses.
The energiser is the heart of your fence and generates electrical impulses at regular intervals. It is
connected to the grounding on the one hand and to the conductor material of your fence on the other. If a
connection is made between earth and fence (short circuit), e.g. by touching an animal, the circuit is closed.
The electric shock is unpleasant and the animal refrains from touching the fence again. For an electric
fence to work, it does not need to start and end in the same place. You can let the fence end wherever you
need.
The electric fence represents a „physical" and a „psychological" barrier for animals. A well-installed electric
fence can provide a high degree of security and has many advantages over a mechanical fence. As a
psychological barrier, an electric shock can prevent the animal from crossing a fence. It requires less work
and material, is flexible, can be modified, is suitable for a wide range of animals and offers a high level of
protection against injury.
Any use other than that described above is not intended and may result in injury to persons and damage
to property.
Take steps to prevent misuse of the energiser:
• Secure the energiser against unauthorised interference (e.g. theft protection, child protection) if the
installation site requires this.
• Special application of electric fences in zoos or game enclosures: the installation of such systems
may only be carried out by qualified electricians. A mechanical protective fence must be provided to
separate visitors from the electric fence.
• If the power cord of this energiser becomes damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its
service department or a similarly qualified person to prevent injury. Service and repairs may only be
carried out by authorised specialist personnel! Only the spare parts specified by the manufacturer
may be used.
