The Servo Duo Guard is bi-directional and
intended to be used on both the expiratory
and/or inspiratory limbs of breathing circuits.
If nebulization is used, the Servo Duo Guard
must be positioned in a specific way
described under Instructions for Use.
The filter housing is transparent to allow
visual inspection while in use.
1.3 INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Place the filter either on the expiratory or
inspiratory limb of the ventilator (or
anesthetic breathing system).
Note: For nebulization, position the filter
on the expiratory limb with the arrows (3)
on the filter pointing in the gas flow
direction.
SVX-
The filter is designed to work during 48
hours.
For nebulization, the filter has been tested
for the following drugs under the following
conditions:
- Using a known drug intended for
nebulization (e.g. Berodual®,
Acetylcystein, Combivent, Garamycin,
Pulmicort*, Bromhexin, Tacholiquin,
Tyloxapol, DNCG Stada).

Servo Duo Guard Instructions
|
- Using the Aeroneb or Ultrasonic
nebulizers provided by MAQUET.
- Nebulizing a maximum of 6 times 5 ml (4
ml Pulmicort) during 48 hours, where each
nebulization period is ≤ 30 minutes with
continuous use of single or dual-heated
active humidification (100% RH) between
nebulization.
WARNINGS!
For single patient use only.
Handle used filter as contaminated
waste.
If nebulization is performed outside of
the test frame described on the
previous page, monitor the patient
airway pressure with extra care. Also
check for particle collection of, for
instance, blood.
If active humidification is used,
continuously check to ensure that
possible condensation created in the
expiratory limb does not affect ventilator
performance.
CAUTIONS:
To be replaced every 48 hours.
Placement of the filter between the
tracheal or tracheostomy tube and the
breathing circuit will increase the dead
space by 170 ml. Only use this filter on
the inspiratory or expiratory limb
(machine ends) of the breathing circuit.
