To Remove the Battery Pack from the Tool
1. Press the battery release button
battery pack out of the tool handle.
2. Insert battery pack into the charger as described in the
charger section of this manual.
Fuel Gauge Battery Packs (Fig. B)

WALT battery packs include a fuel gauge

e
which consists of three green LED lights that indicate the level
of charge remaining in the battery pack.
To actuate the fuel gauge, press and hold the fuel gauge
button

. A combination of the three green LED lights will
illuminate designating the level of charge left. When the level
of charge in the battery is below the usable limit, the fuel gauge
will not illuminate and the battery will need to be recharged.
nOTE: The fuel gauge is only an indication of the charge left on
the battery pack. It does not indicate tool functionality and is
subject to variation based on product components, temperature
and end‑user application.
Bail/Loop Style Auxiliary Handle (Fig. C)

WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury, ALWAYS
operate the tool with the bail/loop style auxiliary handle
properly installed. Failure to do so may result in the bail/
loop style auxiliary handle slipping during tool operation
and subsequent loss of control. Hold tool with both hands
to maximize control.
The bail/loop style auxiliary handle 
the gear case and may be rotated 360˚ to permit right‑ or
left‑hand use.
Mounting the Bail/Loop Style Auxiliary Handle
(Fig. C)
1. Widen the ring opening 
handle

by rotating the screw for handle mounting 
counter clockwise.
2. Slide the assembly onto the nose of the tool through
the ring opening

and onto the chisel position index
collar

, past the chisel holder and sleeve.
3. Rotate the bail/loop style auxiliary handle to the
desired position.
4. Lock the bail/loop style auxiliary handle in place by securely
tightening the screw for handle mounting 
clockwise so that the assembly will not rotate.
Bit and Bit Holder

WARNING: Burn Hazard. ALWAYS wear gloves when
changing bits. Accessible metal parts on the tool and bits
may get extremely hot during operation. Small bits of
broken material may damage bare hands.
Inserting and Removing SDS max® Accessories
(Fig. D)
This machine uses SDS max® chisels (refer to the inset in
Figure D for a cross‑section of an SDS max® bit shank).
1. Clean the bit shank.

4. Pull on the bit to check if it is properly locked. The
hammering function requires the bit to be able to move
axially several centimetres when locked in the bit holder.

collar

and pull the chisel out of the chisel holder 
OPERATION

before making any adjustments or removing/
installing attachments or accessories. An accidental
start-up can cause injury.
Proper Hand Position (Fig. A, E)

WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal injury,
ALWAYS use proper hand position as shown.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal
injury, ALWAYS hold securely in anticipation of a
sudden reaction.
Proper hand position requires one hand on the bail/loop style
auxiliary handle 
Operation Modes (Fig. A)

WARNING: Do not select the operating mode when the
tool is running.
Your tool is equipped with a mode selector dial 
mode appropriate to desired operation.

To Select an Operating Mode
Rotate the mode selector dial so that the arrow points to the
symbol corresponding for the desired mode.
nOTE: The arrow on the mode selector dial 
at a mode symbol at all times. There are no operable positions
in between.
Indexing the Chisel Position (Fig. A)
The DCH832 can be indexed and locked into
18 different positions.
The DCH892 can be indexed and locked into
24 different positions.
1. Rotate the mode selector switch
