Machine / battery protection system
The machine is equipped with a machine/battery
protection system. This system automatically cuts off
power to the motor to extend machine and battery life.
The machine will automatically stop during operation if
the machine or battery is placed under one of the fol-
l o w i n g c o n d i t i o n s .
Overload protection
When the machine/battery is operated in a manner
that causes it to draw an abnormally high current, the
machine automatically stops and the indicator lamp
lights up in red. In this situation, turn the machine off
a n d s t o p t h e a p p l i c a t i o n t h a t c a u s e d t h e m a c h i n e t o
b e c o m e o v e r l o a d e d . T h e n t u r n t h e m a c h i n e o n t o
r e s t a r t .
Overheat protection
W h e n t h e m a c h i n e i s o v e r h e a t e d , t h e m a c h i n e s t o p s
automatically and the indicator lamp lights up in red.
L e t t h e m a c h i n e c o o l d o w n b e f o r e t u r n i n g t h e m a c h i n e
o n a g a i n .
Overdischarge protection
When the battery capacity becomes low, the machine
stops automatically and the indicator lamp lights up in
r e d . I f t h e m a c h i n e d o e s n o t o p e r a t e e v e n w h e n t h e
switches are operated, remove the battery from the
machine and charge the battery.
Protections against other causes
Protection system is also designed for other causes that
c o u l d d a m a g e t h e m a c h i n e a n d a l l o w s t h e m a c h i n e t o
stop automatically. Take all the following steps to clear
t h e c a u s e s , w h e n t h e m a c h i n e h a s b e e n b r o u g h t t o a
temporary halt or stop in operation.
1.
Turn the machine off, and then turn it on again to
r e s t a r t .
2.
Charge the battery(ies) or replace it/them with
recharged battery(ies).
3.
Let the machine and battery(ies) cool down.
If no improvement can be found by restoring protection
system, then contact your local Makita Service Center.
NOTE: T h e t i m i n g , a t w h i c h t h e l a m p l i g h t s u p ,
d e p e n d s o n t h e t e m p e r a t u r e a t w o r k p l a c e a n d t h e
battery cartridge conditions.

When the remaining battery capacity gets low, the
indicator lamp blinks in red. By further use, the machine
s t o p s a n d t h e i n d i c a t o r l a m p l i g h t s u p i n r e d . I n t h i s
situation, charge the battery cartridge.

Press the check button on the battery cartridge to indicate the remain-
ing battery capacity. The indicator lamps light up for a few seconds.

NOTE: D e p e n d i n g o n t h e c o n d i t i o n s o f u s e a n d t h e
ambient temperature, the indication may differ slightly
from the actual capacity.
NOTE: The first (far left) indicator lamp will blink when
the battery protection system works.

always check to see that the switch lever actuates prop-
erly and returns to the original position when released.

NOTE: Mower may not start due to the overload
when you try to mow long or dense grass at a time.

This mower is equipped with the lock key and handle
switch. If you notice anything unusual with either of these
switches, stop operation immediately and have them
checked by your nearest Makita Authorized Service Center.

Install the battery cartridge. Insert the lock key,
and then close the battery cover firmly.
