ACCESSORIES SUPPLIED WITH THE BOAT:
Transport bag, compression belt for compression of the
packed boat, user's manual, foam sponge, gluing kit inclu-
ding glue, patches, valve adapter, spare screw with plastic
nut for fi xation of the seat, metal key for valves.

• third seat for a child

3. Infl ation Instructions

Lay out the canoe. Attach the seats and fi xation straps using
screws and plastic nuts – see Details A and B. Alternatively,
the seats can be laced by means of ropes (19) – see Detail C.
Infl ate the chambers in this sequence: side tubes (1) and
the bottom (2). A foot pump or piston pump with a val-
ve adapter is the best way of infl ating the craft (the valve
adapter is included in the gluing set) – see Picture 2b. Prior
to infl ating the canoe, check the valves. Tighten the valves
with the assembly key - see Fig. 2c. Set the valves to the clo-
sed position. For how to use the valves – see Picture 2.

tely stiff . The air chambers should provide a feeling compa-
rable to squeezing a ripe orange. You can check the exact
operating pressure by using a suitable pressure gauge
(optional accessory) – see Figure 2a. Luggage store com-
partment under the deck: secure all luggage against loss
with fl exible rope with locks (16).
ATTENTION
The maximum operational pressure in air chambers is
0.02 MPa. If the ambient temperature increases (e.g.
owing to sunlight), the pressure in the air chambers of
the canoe can rise rapidly. We recommend releasing
some air from all air chambers of the canoe after pulling
it out of the water. This will prevent possible destruction
of the air chambers. However, do not forget to continu-
ously check air pressure in the chambers afterwards, too.
A corresponding reduction in operating pressure is up to
20 % within 24 hours.
ATTENTION
When using the boat, always seal the valves with their
valve caps. This will keep dirt out of the valves. Dirt can-
cause leaky valve seals.

4. Using the Canoe

The PALAVA two-seat infl atable canoe is designed for rec-
reational use and water tourism.
Whenever the canoe is used on waterways, Waterway Tra-
ffi c Rules have to be observed. Operation of the PALAVA ca-
noe does not require any licence provided that the people
who operate the canoe know the techniques of small boat
operation within the scope necessary for its operation, as
well as the valid navigation rules of the particular country.
The design of the PALAVA canoe enables it to be used on
wild water up to Diffi culty Grade WW3 or for water-based
tourism activities on calm rivers. This is only a recommended
use, it always depends on the specifi c abilities of the user!
The canoe's advantages are good stability, manoeuvrability,
compactness, easy transport and a long lifetime.
The canoe is propelled by two canoeists sitting on the seats.
All people in the canoe have to wear fl otation life-jackets.
When using the canoe on wild water, canoeists are on their
knees, supported by the seats; their thighs are fi xed by
thigh-straps with a safety clip which enable safe abandon-
ment of an overturned canoe. To drive the boat, use canoe
paddles.
