and allow it to reach the optimum speed before
introducing it to the workpiece.
• Always remove the battery pack from the device
before changing attachments.
• Keep your hands out of the work area, and always
cut away from yourself and other people.
CUTTING PROCESS
DANGER:
A. Keep your hands away from the work area and the
sheet. Keep both hands are on the side handle or
on the motor housing. Holding the saw with both
hands will prevent you from cutting your fingers.
B. Do not reach under the workpiece. The protective
cover cannot protect you from the part of the saw
blade that is under the workpiece.
C. Never hold a workpiece to be cut using your hands
or over your leg. Fix the workpiece in place on a
stable surface. It is important to properly support
the workpiece in order to avoid physical contact,
jamming of the saw blade, and loss of control.
D. Always use a parallel or rule stop when cutting
(lengthways cut). This improves the cutting
precision and reduces the chances of the saw
blade seizing.
Causes of recoil and related warnings
Recoil is the result of improper use of the saw and/or
incorrect application of operating steps or
unsuitable working conditions. It can be prevented by
taking suitable protective measures (as below).
A. Hold the saw firmly with both hands and position
your arms to counter potential recoil. Stand so
that your body is laterally behind the saw blade,
but not directly behind it.
The recoil can cause the saw to jump backwards;
however, the operator can control the recoil forces
if the correct precautionary measures are taken.
B. If the blade seizes or you need to interrupt the
cutting work for any other reason, switch off the
saw and do not move it again until the blade has
come to a complete halt. Never try to loosen the
saw blade from the workpiece or to pull the saw
backwards while the saw blade is rotating - this
can lead to recoil.
Check the cause of the seizure and take
appropriate countermeasures.
C. If you restart the saw with the blade already in
the workpiece, centre the blade in the cutting
groove and ensure that the saw teeth are not
embedded in the material.
If the saw blade is seized, it can work its way up or
jump out of the workpiece when the saw starts up.
D. Do not use blunt or damaged saw blades.Blunt
or improperly used saw blades create a narrow
cutting groove and excessive friction, leading to
the blade seizing and recoil.
HOW THE LOWER PROTECTIVE COVER WORKS
A. Before each use, check whether the lower
protective cover closes properly. Do not use the
saw if the lower protective cover does not move
freely and does not close without a delay. Never
attempt to fix the lower protective cover in the
open position using a clamp or tie.
If the saw is accidentally dropped, the lower
protective cover may bend. Pull back the lower
protective cover using the handle provided and
make sure that it moves freely and does not touch
the saw blade.
B. The lower cover can be pulled back manually. This
may only be done for special cuts such as plunge
cuts and drift cuts.
Lift the lower protective cover on the handle
provided. As soon as the saw blade penetrates the
workpiece, the protective cover must be released
again.
C. Always ensure that the lower protective cover
surrounds the saw blade before placing the saw
on the workbench or floor.
An unprotected, running saw blade triggers a
backward movement of the saw, which will cut
everything in its path. Observe the period from
switching off the saw blade until it comes to a
standstill.
