DRIVING/USE (B)
B.01.
Before any journey, all screw connections and connections of the roof bars and all other parts must be checked for
tight fit and tightened if required.
B.02.
After any interruption of a journey during which the vehicle with roof rack has been left unsupervised, all freely
accessible fixations of the roof rack and of the load should be checked for tight fit and function ability (check for damage
due to outside intervention).
B.03.
After first fitting of the roof rack and whenever the roof rack is refitted to the vehicle roof, roof rack, accessories and
loads shall be checked the first time after a short period of driving, 50 km or 30 minutes maximum, for tight fit and
function ability and tightened if necessary. Especially on longer journeys, screw connections between roof bars and the
vehicle roof must be checked at regular intervals - after 500 km at the latest - for firmness and tightness and must be re
tightened if necessary. On bad terrain, a check on screw connections must be repeated at intervals of two hours of driving.
B.04.
Sudden braking, abrupt starts and fast driving round bends should be avoided as far as possible. When carrying a
load on the roof the driving speed has to be adjusted to outside conditions such as the road surface, side winds, the
general traffic situation etc.
B.05.
With roof racks, the national regulations must be followed, (e.g. StVZO - German Highway Admission code, French
Code de la Route...).

intervals.

when not in use.
B.08.
Never drive into a car wash with a roof rack fitted. Remove roof rack beforehand.
ULTI Rack+
B.09.
When driving with the roof rack with or without load, the significantly greater height of the vehicle must be
considered. If this is neglected, collisions with major damage to property and/or personal injury may be the consequence.
B.10.
When transporting loads with a large surface area be aware of the additional force that can be exerted.
LOADING/SECURING (C)
C.01.
Do not exceed the maximum specified load rating of the roof rack, this rating is stated in the fitting instructions.
This limit however is always subordinate to the maximum roof load carrying capacity as advised by the vehicle manufac-
turer. Maximum roof load = weight of roof rack + weight of load securing devices / accessories + weight
of load.
C.02.
The load shall be evenly distributed over the area of the roof rack, and the centre of gravity of the load kept as low as
possible; the load must be secured against slipping using appropriate straps (not elastic straps with or without hooks).
C.03.
Load should not substantially extend beyond the loading surface of the roof rack. Loads which overhang the ends of
the roof rack shall conform to any relevant laws or by-laws in force, and shall be adequately secured.
C.04.
When carrying long objects, they must be securely fastened to the vehicle both on the front and the rear.
