Work on Ex cable junction boxes may only be performed
by specialist electricians or personnel trained in electrical
engineering with the appropriate specialist knowledge and
skills for explosion hazardous areas.
Safe use
Ex cable junction boxes are suited for connecting and branching
electrical cable in areas, where explosive atmospheres consisting of
gases, fumes, fog, or dust / air mixtures may occur in rare cases and
only for a short period of time.
Zone 2, equipment group II, category 3G, group IIC, equipment
protection level (EPL) Gc and
Zone 22, equipment group II, category 3D, group IIIC, equipment
protection level (EPL) Dc
Prohibited use:
- areas in which an explosive atmosphere may occur occasionally,
frequently, for long periods of time and / or permanently (Zone 0
and 20 or Zone 1 and 21)
- under or overground mining systems
For areas in which chemical substances are found in the air, in
particular ketones and esters, junction box suitability must be
requested.
