NEWA Wave pumps are engineered so that they can accurately reproduce the wave-
like movements produced by natural water currents. They are ideal for use in both
salt and fresh-water aquaria. Any other use is not covered by the manufacturer's
guarantee. The delicate wave-like movement produced by NEWA Wave guarantees
a constant nutritional supply to corals, maintaining the vitality of sessile animals. On
the other hand, NEWA Wave ensures improved oxygenation for freshwater plants.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
This NEWA Wave is in conformity with official safety standards EN 60335-2-41
1) WARNING: turn off and disconnect all the electrical equipment in the aquarium
before carrying out any maintenance tasks.
2) Always check the voltage on the pump label to make sure that it corresponds to
the main power supply.
3) The power cord must not be repaired or replaced. If it is damaged, replace the
entire pump unit.
4) The pump can be used in fresh or marine water with maximum fluid temperature
of 35°C.
5) The pump must not be left to run dry.
6) The pump can be immersed up to a maximum depth of 1 meter, as indicated by
the international symbol .
7) When the pump is plugged into the mains, make sure that the lowest part of the
lead is lower than the socket. This is to prevent accidental spillage of water traveling
along the lead and reaching the socket (fig. 1 DRIP LOOP).
8) WARNING: the symbol indicates that the pump can only be used indoor.
9) We recommend that all electrical aquarium equipment should be connected to a
grounded circuit breaker with a 30mA fuse.
10) CAUTION: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children)
with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use
of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
11) CAUTION: Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with
the appliance because this device is not a toy.
KEEP THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!
INSTALLATION - DIRECTIONS FOR USE: NEWA Wave must be completely
submersed to function correctly. The solid suction cup support allows a powerful
anchorage of the pump to the inside of the tank; the ball-joint and the lock-nut
allow the pump to rotate and then be fixed at the desired position. For models NWA
2.7 - 9.7 screw the pump to the suction cup support nut (Fig. 2), without locking it
completely. In the NWA 1.6 ADJ model there is a pressure joint. Position the pump
inside the aquarium, making sure that the glass is perfecly clean in order to obtain
the optimum grip. Fix the suction cup onto the glass, ensuring that the lever is
positioned as shown in Fig. 3. Fasten the suction cup, pushing the lever towards the
glass in order to create the grip (Fig. 4). Turn the pump to the desired direction and

tighten the nut (Fig. 5). Insert the power cord in the cord-lead (Fig. 6).
ADJUSTMENT: In the NWA 1.6 ADJ model it is possible to modify water flow as
required, by moving the adjustment ring (Fig. 7).
MAINTENANCE: Regular maintenance guarantees maximum performance of the
pump: it is recommended to periodically clean the internal parts with a brush and
lukewarm water. Any scale can be removed with vinegar or lemon juice. Do not use
solvents. For maintenance proceed as follows:
NWA 1.6 ADJ-2.7: press the two lateral buttons inwards and then remove the
impeller chamber (Fig. 8-9). Remove the rotor (Fig.10) and clean it or replace if
necessary (Fig. 11). Replace the rotor and re-assemble the impeller chamber until
you hear the locking click.
NWA 3.9-9.7: rotate the impeller chamber, press the two lateral buttons inwards
and remove the impeller chamber (Fig. 12). Remove the rotor (Fig. 13). Take off
the bushes using the rotor shaft (Fig. 14-15). Clean all the parts or replace them if
necessary (Fig. 16). Replace the back bush onto the rotor shaft on the opposite side
of the impeller (Fig. 17). Ensure that the ceramic part of the bush is facing the rotor.
Replace the complete rotor into the body pump (Fig.18-19), Replace the impeller
chamber until you hear the locking click, and rotate it until you hear a second click
(Fig. 20). Insert the front bush in its originary position in its seat on the impeller
chamber (Fig. 21).
The motor of the NWA 1.6 ADJ-2.7-3.9-5.1 and 7.5 is self-protected against
uncharacteristic overheating caused by misuse, running-dry or jammed rotor. The NWA
9.7 is provided with a self-resetting thermal protector. If the pump stopped working,
please investigate if the thermal cut-off has been activated by first disconnecting the
appliance from the electrical supply for approximately 1 hour, then remedy the cause
that made the appliance stop, and reconnect to the socket again.
WARRANTY: This product is guaranteed, in compliance to European directive
1999/44. as fee from faults both in materials and workmanship for a period of 24
months from date of purchase.The manufacturer's guarantee is now extended for a
further 12 months, giving a total guarantee period of 36 months. If the product fails
to operate correctly within the first 36 months of the date of purchase, return it to
the retailer where it was purchased. The product shall be replaced free of charge.
During the period of warranty the product shall be replaced if: 1) The product is
returned carefully packaged and has not been damaged intransport. 2) Proof of
purchase is supplied along with a detailed explanation of reasons for the claim.The
warranty is subject to the following restrictions and conditions: 1) The warranty does
not cover accidental damage or breakage. 2) Replacement of the product in no way
represents admission of responsibility. 3) The warranty is not valid in the case of
improper use, and does not cover damage caused by tempering or negligence on
the part of the purchaser. 4) The warranty is not valid for components subject to wear
and tear (see * pages 2).
