This smoke detector is provided with cover locks, which prevent the cover of the
smoke detector from closing when the battery is not installed. It indicates that the
smoke detector does not work until a new battery is properly installed. The battery
is positioned INCORRECTLY in the battery compartment with the intention to keep
it fresh until installation. It must be repositioned correctly!
NOTE: When the smoke detector battery comes into contact with the smoke de-
tector for the first time, the alarm may sound for one second. This is normal and
indicates that the battery is positioned correctly. Close the cover.
7.2 Self-test
Press the test button and keep it pres-
sed for about 5 seconds until you hear
the alarm. You should hear a loud,
pulsating alarm. This means that the
device is working properly.
7.3 LED display (red LED)
The red LED as ALARM indicator is
part of the smoke detector. It can be
seen through the test button on the
cover of the detector. If the red LED
flashes once every 32 seconds, it indicates that the detector is in normal mode.
When the detector senses smoke and simultaneously gives off an audible alarm,
then the red LED flashes once every 0.67 seconds.
7.4 Testing the smoke detector
Test the detector once a week by pressing the test button firmly (7.2 Self-test).
The test can take up to 20 seconds until the alarm is heard. These are methods to
ensure that the smoke detector is working properly. If the detector fails and does
not work properly, it should be repaired or replaced.
