Caution! Never use an open flame to test your detector. This could result in a fire
causing damage to the detector and your home.
The built-in test switch tests all the detector functions. These are the only correct
ways to test the device.
Caution! If you do not test the device and you hear a continuous alarm sound,
it means that the detector has sensed smoke or combustion particles in the
air. Check whether the alarm is a warning of a potentially serious situation that
requires your immediate attention.
The alarm could be caused by unfavourable circumstances. Steam as well as
smoke and soot from the oven can trigger a fault alarm. When this happens, open
a window or fan the air to remove the steam and smoke or soot particles .. The
alarm is switched off automatically once the air is completely clean.
Note: Do not disconnect the battery from the detector. This will nullify your fire
safety.
7.5 Low battery
When the device detects that the battery voltage is low and the batteries need
to be replaced, the red LED flashes once in about every 32 seconds and an alarm
sounds. Replace the battery with a new one in such cases. Ensure that the polari-
ty of the contact is correct when inserting the battery.
8. When the alarm goes off
When the alarm goes off and you did not press the test button, this is a warning of
a dangerous situation involving a fire or smoke development.
