INSTALLATION
3.1
PLANNING: Plan your fall protection system prior to installation of the Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base. Account for all
factors that may affect your safety before, during and after a fall. Consider all requirements defined in Section 2 and Table
1 to determine the correct fasteners and placement for mounting the Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base on the anchorage
structure.
Anchorage: Anchorage on which the Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base is mounted must meet the Anchorage Load
requirements specified in Table 1.

3.2
ASSEMBLING THE TrIPod MouNTING BrAckET ANd BASE:
Attach the Bracket to the Tripod Leg: (Figure 6)

Position Mounting Base at desired location on Tripod leg as shown.

Tighten bolts to 15 foot lbs. Do not overtighten.

Torque the Locking Bolt to a minimum of
of Tripod leg. See Tripod Instruction for identification of Tripod components.
Attaching the Srd-r to the Bracket (Figure 7)

Attach the Mounting Bracket to the Rebel Retrieval SRL-R by inserting three bolts through the Bracket and into the
SRD-R housing. Ensure threaded holes are clear of any debris. Tighten bolts to 15 ft/lb

Position the SRL with Mounting Bracket onto the Mounting Base that was installed on the Protecta Tripod. The slot
in the end of the Mounting Bracket on the SRL slides onto the Mounting Base on the Tripod (A). (Reposition the
Tripod Mounting Base as required for proper SRL operating height.)
6.
With the Mounting Bracket resting on the pin, pivot the top of the SRL inward to align the holes in the Brackets. Press
in the button on the end of the detent pin (B) and slide the pin in fully to secure the SRL to the Tripod.

Extend SRL cable up and over the Tripod Pulley by following the Protecta Tripod User Instructions.
4.0
USE
4.1
BEForE EAcH uSE: Verify that your work area and Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS) meet all criteria defined in
Section 2 and a formal Rescue Plan is in place. Inspect the Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base per the 'User' inspection
points defined on the "Inspection and Maintenance Log" 2. If inspection reveals an unsafe or defective condition, do not
use the system. Remove the system from service and destroy, or contact 3M regarding replacement or repair.
5.0
INSPECTION
5.1
INSPEcTIoN FrEQuENcY: The Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base must be inspected at the intervals defined in Section
1. Inspection procedures are described in the 'Inspection and Maintenance Log' 2 Inspect all other components of the Fall
Protection System per the frequencies and procedures defined in the manufacturer's instructions.
5.2
dEFEcTS: If inspection reveals an unsafe or defective condition, remove the Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base from
service immediately and contact 3M regarding replacement or repair. Do not attempt to repair the Fall Arrest System.

Authorized Repairs Only: Only 3M or parties authorized in writing may make repairs to this equipment.
5.3
ProducT LIFE: The functional life of the Fall Arrest System is determined by work conditions and maintenance. As long
as the product passes inspection criteria, it may remain in service.
6.0
MAINTENANCE, SERVICING, STORAGE
6.1
cLEANING: Periodically clean the Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base metal components with a soft brush, warm water,
and a mild soap solution. Ensure parts are thoroughly rinsed with clean water.
6.2
SErVIcE: Only 3M or parties authorized in writing by 3M may make repairs to this equipment. If the
Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base has been subject to fall force or inspection reveals an unsafe or defective conditions,
remove the system from service and contact 3M regarding replacement or repair.
6.3
STorAGE ANd TrANSPorT: When not in use, store and transport the Tripod Mounting Bracket and Base and
associated fall protection equipment in a cool, dry, clean environment out of direct sunlight. Avoid areas where chemical
vapors may exist. Thoroughly inspect components after extended storage.
