ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
1. Pull the handle (1) fully to one side.
2. Maneuver the disc pad spreaders (6) opening over the handle and move the spreader to the
bolt (2).
3. Maneuver the spreader over the bolt and slide it down to rest on the tightening screw caps
(3) raised lip.
4. Select the appropriate adapter plate (8) (see Vehicle Adapter List).
5. Align the wind-back tools pins (5) with the adapter plate holes and affix the plate to the tool.
OPERATION
Consult the vehicle owners manual or the parts service manual for instructions on installatio
and maintenance of the brake caliper system.
1. Align the adapter plates pins with the openings on the vehicles caliper piston and seat the plate.
2. Slide the disk pad spreader back until it rests against the caliper forks. Rotate the tightening
screw cap clockwise by hand to secure the spreader so it does not slip. Finish tightening with
a wrench.
3. Open the brakes bleeder screw enough to let trapped air escape.
4. Turn the handle clockwise to force the piston to rotate inward. Continue to apply pressure
until the piston no longer moves. Visually confirm it is seated and not jammed. A jammed
piston may require replacement.
5. Close the brakes bleeder screw.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
• Maintain the tool with care. A tool in good condition is efficient, easier to control and will have
fewer problems.
• Inspect the tool components periodically. Repair or replace damaged or worn components.
Only use identical replacement parts when servicing.
• Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
• Only use accessories intended for use with this tool.
• Keep the tool clean, dry and free from oil/grease at all times.
• Maintain the tool's labels and name plates. These carry important information. If unreadable
or missing, contact Performance Tool for replacements.
WARNING: Only qualified service personnel should repair the tool. An improperly repaired tool

may present a hazard to the user and/or others.
• Inspect and lubricate the tool when required. Only use light oil to lubricate the tool. Other
lubricants may not be suitable and could damage the tool or cause a malfunction during use.
• When not in use for an extended period, apply a thin coat of lubricant to the steel parts to
avoid rust. Remove the lubricant before using the tool again.
DISPOSAL
Recycle a tool damaged beyond repair at the appropriate facility.
