Changeing Sanding Sheet
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
Selecting the Sanding Disc
Depending on the material to be worked, differ-
ent sanding sheet qualities are to be used.
Replacing the Sanding Disc
Before placing on a new sanding sheet, free the
sanding plate from dust and dirt.
To ensure optimum dust extraction, the holes of
the sanding sheet must match with those of the
sanding plate.
Sanding Sheet with Velcro Attachment
The sanding sheets are placed directly onto the
sanding plate. The hole pattern in the sanding
plate and sanding sheet must match.
Standard Sanding Sheets
Press or release securing clip 4.
Push and lock sanding sheet under the open se-
curing clip 4.
Lock other end in the same manner. Ensure that
sanding sheet fits firmly against sanding plate 2.
The perforation pattern in sanding plate 2 must
be aligned with that of sanding sheet 3 in order to
ensure proper dust extraction through the sand-
ing plate.
Use punching tool 9 to punch holes for dust extrac-
tion into unperforated sanding sheets.
Dust/Chip Extraction
Caution, fire hazard!
In unfavourable conditions, e. g. when sparks
emit from sanding metals, sanding-debris in
the dust bag, microfilter or paper sack (or in
the filter sack or filter of the wet /dry vacuum
cleaner) can self-ignite. Particularly when
mixed with remainders of varnish, poly-
urethane or other chemical materials and
when the sanding debris is hot after long pe-
riods of working.
Avoid overheating the object being sanded as
well as the power tool and always empty the
dust collector before work-breaks.
If your tool is equipped with a dust bag, empty it
frequently and after completion of sanding.
Be extremely careful of dust disposal, materials
in fine particle form may be explosive.
Do not throw sanding dust on an open fire. Spon-
taneous combustion may in time, result from mix-
ture of oil or water with dust particles.
Note:
When working without a dust vacuum, plug 8
must be inserted in vacuum socket 7.
Paper Dust Bag
Push dust bag 6 on adapter 5. Ensure that
adapter engages in provided holder on dust bag.
Insert dust bag with adapter in vacuum socket 7.
Empty or replace dust bag 6 regularly to ensure
optimum dust extraction.
Tissue Dust Bag (Accessory)
Push dust bag 10 on adapter 5. Ensure that
adapter engages in provided holder on dust bag.
Insert dust bag with adapter in vacuum socket 7.
External Dust Extraction with
Vacuum Cleaner
A vacuum adapter must be utilized when a vac-
uum cleaner is used for external dust extraction
(accessory).
The appliance can be plugged directly into the
socket of a BTI all-purpose vacuum cleaner
which incorporates a remote-control start device.
The vacuum cleaner automatically starts when
the appliance is switched on.
Initial Operation
Always use the correct supply voltage:
voltage of the power source must agree with the
value given on the nameplate of the machine.
Machines designated for 230 V can also be
operated with 220 V.
Switching On and Off
To start the machine, set the On/Off switch 1 to I.
To switch off the machine, set the On/Off
switch 1 to 0.
Operating Instructions
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
The removal rate is determined mainly by the
sanding sheet selected and the controlled con-
tact pressure of the sanding plate.
Excessive sanding pressure does not lead to in-
creased sanding capacity, but to increased wear
of the machine and the sanding sheet.
A sanding sheet that has been used for metal
should not be used for other materials.
Use only original BTI sanding sheets and acces-
sories
