BATTERYtest PRO 600 | Multi-function Automotive tester OMM600 | 12V / 24V
Introduction
This RMM600 Automotive Multi-Meter was designed solely for Automotive
Technicians for troubleshooting of all electrical problems encountered in the
vehicle. Be it a 6V, 12V or 24V system it can be used to check Amps draw
directly on the fuse (Mini, ATC or Maxi Fuses) without having to remove it
and measures parasitic drain current using parallel method at the fuse box.
Besides it measures Peak and Average Volts (max. 50VDC), Cranking Volts
on 12V/24V Systems with auto HOLD functions, 12V/24V Normal and Smart
Alternator charging voltages, Resistance [Ohms] (auto ranging up to 1.0M
), Frequency with peak to peak Volts (up to 20 KHz) and Duty Cycle (%). Hav-
ing able to measure AMPS, VOLTS, OHMS, FREQUENCY and DUTY CYCLE
(%), it is also able to perform circuit CONTINUITY Test, DIODES Test and
lastly LED Test which virtually had given us the necessary tools to assess and
troubleshoot any electrical problem encountered in the vehicle. The opera-
tion of this Tester is simple and easy to use. It is fully protected and it will not
be easily damage caused by accidental selection of testing mode e.g. using
OHM mode to measure Volts.
Here are the following tests that it can perform:
1. AMPS draw (A) measurements
There are two options on Amps draw measurements:
Option 1: Direct Amp Draw Test
(Probes are touch on top of fuse contact during measurement).
Unlike conventional way of measuring Amps (current) draw where an Amp
meter or a tester has to be connected in series with the circuit or by induction
method using an Amp clamp meter which clamps onto the cable, this test
measures Amp draw directly from the two expose points at the fuse (Mini,
ATC or Maxi) while the circuit is operating without removing the fuse with auto
HOLD readout during test. (Test range up to 80 Amps maximum).
Option 2: In-line Amp Draw Test with the circuit
Like normal Multimeter Amp Test, this option allows you to measure amps in
line (in series) with the operating circuit. It has two ranges: 1mA~999 mA and
1A ~ 30A. The smaller range (1mA~999mA) is very useful in measuring para-
sitic drain when the vehicle is OFF while the larger range permit test on fans,
wiper motors, etc. (Operating range up to 30A maximum).
2. VOLTS (V) measurement with different LED Colour display to indicate
its limits
When this mode is selected, you can measure Average and Peak voltages
present in the circuit with direct readout of the voltage present on the LCD
display with Green, Yellow or Red coloured LED to indicate the results of the
measured readings. It can measure from 0.00V to 50.00V DC maximum.
3. 12V /24V System Cranking Volt Test
Apart from the above, it is also designed to check the cranking effective-
ness of the 12V/24V Automotive Starter by measuring the Volt drop during
cranking. The readings will be captured and automatically HOLD on the LCD
display with colour LED indication to show its results.
4. Normal and Smart 12V/24V Alternator Charging Volt Test
This test enables checking of Alternator charging voltages to ensure that it
falls within its operating ranges. The test involves with electrical loads "OFF"
at 3,000 rpm, electrical loads "ON" at 2,000 rpm and lastly Diode Ripples
voltage check with all the final test results after the test.
5. OHMS ( ) measurement
The resistance of the electrical components can be measured with this tester
from 0.0
up to 1.0 M . It has an automatic range selection whereby it will
select the best range that suit the resistance it has detected to give a more
precise reading.
6. FREQUENCY (Hz) measurement
Selecting this mode will enable you to measure the frequency from 0Hz to 20
KHz on frequency operated electrical components in the circuit. While meas-
uring Hz, it will also show the peak to peak volts on the same display. Typical
examples are Fuel injectors, rotation sensors, proximity sensors, etc.
7. DUTY CYCLE (%) measurement
Complimentary to frequency (Hz) measurement, you can also determine the
Duty Cycle in percentage (0% to 100%) of the electrical component while in
operation when it is in this mode.
8. Continuity Test
When this mode is selected, you can test the continuity of the cable, circuit or
common ground. The beeper will sound when the continuity is good.
9.Diode Test
While still in the Continuity test mode, the conditions of the diodes can also
be tested.
10.LED Test
Same mode with Continuity test, the condition of the LED light can be de-
termined.
