Installation Instructions
Overview
The HW-RPM-4FSQ-120 provides quiet fan speed control for up to four ceil-
ing fans (one fan per circuit). This module cannot control fans that have inte-
grated fan speed controls (i.e., any fan that has a remote control). Each load
can be a maximum of 2 Amps. The module installs with no additional terminal
blocks needed on the DIN rail assembly in a HWI-PNL-8 or HWI-PNL-5 panel.
It is recommended to install HW-RPM-4FSQ-120 modules below any dim-
ming modules in the panel for heat dissipation reasons.
Installation
Note: It is normal for the HW-RPM-4FSQ-120 module to hum or
buzz when at the medium-high fan speed setting.
1.
Turn power off to all feeds to the panel.
Danger - This panel may be fed by multiple circuits. Locate and
lock each supply circuit breaker in the OFF position before pro-
ceeding.
2.
Install the module's wires into the appropriate terminal blocks and
secure using 3.5 to 5 in-lbs (0.4 to 0.56 Nm) of torque (See Figure 1).
Danger - Modules are not approved to be used anywhere other
than in a HomeWorks Interactive
or HWI-PNL-5).
3.
Mount the module into the rough-in panel. Start with position 1,
then 2, then 3, etc. Do not overtighten screws, torque to 20 in-lbs (2.25
Nm) maximum.
4.
Connect the control harness (provided with the HomeWorks
Interactive
processor or Module Interface) to the module at the four
TM
pin connector.
5.
Check that all bypass jumpers are installed. They will distribute
power to each load and should not be removed until after all modules
and loads are fully installed and tested.
Caution - Do not connect this module to lighting loads. Damage
to the module may result.
6.
Turn on input feed circuit breakers and check that they do
not trip. Each output is rated for a maximum load of 2 Amps. Verify
that all connected fan loads are functional. Use the fan's pull chain to
set it to its highest speed.
Danger - Only turn on input feed circuit breakers when load
wiring is complete and it is safe to have power applied.
