Note:
- When a GPS receiver is connected, steps 4 and 5 (Current position/time programming) do not appear. Go to step 6.
1. Press and hold the [DISTRESS] key for 3 seconds to transmit the distress call. Press [CLR] to cancel and exit the state.
2. After transmitting the Distress call, the transceiver waits for an acknowledgement call.
3. After receiving the acknowledgement, "RCV DISTRESS ACK" shown on the LCD, reply using the microphone.
4. Press and hold [DISTRESS] key for 3 seconds to transmit a renewed Distress call, if necessary.
5. Press any key other than the [DISTRESS] key to exit the repeat call status.
♦ Receive DSC calls:
When a distress call is received:
1. The emergency alarm sounds. Press any key to stop the alarm.
2. "DSC" and "RCV DISTRESS" appear on the LCD, and then the channel 16 is automatically selected.
3. Continue monitoring channel 16 as a ship or coast station may require assistance.
♦ Receive a distress acknowledgement:
When a distress acknowledgement to other ship is received:
1. The emergency alarm sound. Press any key to stop the alarm.
2. "DSC" and "RCV DISTRESS ACK" appear on the LCD, and then the channel 16 is automatically selected.
♦ Receive a distress relay call:
When a distress relay call is received:
1. The emergency alarm sound. Press any key to stop the alarm.
2. "DSC" and "RCV RELAY" appear on the LCD, and then the channel 16 is automatically selected.
♦ Receive a distress relay acknowledgement:
When a distress relay acknowledgement is received:
1. The emergency alarm sound. Press any key to stop the alarm.
2. "DSC" and "RCV RELAY ACK" appear on the LCD, and then the channel 16 is automatically selected.
