4. CONNECTIONS

4.1 Compact-015, 115

The Compact-015 and 115 have been designed for stand-alone
full-range use.
Simply plug the mixer output into the enclosure's input. If you
have more than one box per side, use the
to link the signal from one box to the next.
4.2 Compact-2
The Compact-2 can be used full-range or reinforced with
Compact-18 Sub/Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub 2k.
Full-range use is only recommended for applications where
not a lot of SPL is required. To use it in this mode simply plug
the mixer into the enclosure's input.
To use it in combination with the Compact-18 Sub/Compact-
218 Sub/218 Sub 2k, plug the mixer into the Compact-18
Sub/Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub 2k input, and connect the
SATELLITE
output to the Compact-2's input. If you have more
boxes, simply daisy chain Compact-2s and Compact-18
Sub/Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub 2ks as shown.
Subwoofer level is controlled via the
potentiometer. If separate control and signal routing to the
Compact-2 and Compact-18 Sub/Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub
2k is required (such as for applications where the subwoofer
is run off a console's aux bus as an effect, or it needs to be
delayed), drive each enclosure model separately from a
processor, using a Linkwitz-Riley 24 dB/octave 100 Hz high-
pass filter for the Compact-2 (so that the missing high-pass
from the Compact-18 Sub/Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub 2k is
replicated), feeding the Compact-18 Sub/Compact-218
Sub/218 Sub 2k with full-range signal.

4.3 Compact-18 Sub and Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub 2k
Compact-18 Sub or Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub 2k will
normally be used as Compact-2 subwoofer reinforcement.
However, nothing precludes its use as subwoofer
reinforcement for other self-powered or passive systems.
To use in combination with passive mid-high boxes, plug the
mixer into the Compact-18 Sub or Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub
SATELLITE
2k input and use the
filtered) signal to an amplifier, which will drive the passive
box/es.
To use with other self-powered mid-high boxes, proceed as for
Compact-2 and Compact-18 Sub/Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub
2k, replacing the Compact-2 by your self-powered box. Adjust
Compact-18 Sub/Compact-218 Sub/218 Sub 2k level if
required.
4.3 Loop thru
LOOP THRU
The
output is an output XLR in parallel with the
input connector and is useful for daisy chaining the input
signal to a number of boxes or inputs, connecting them in
parallel.
The number of inputs that can be linked this way depends on
the output impedance of the equipment driving the enclosure,
such as the mixer or processor. Typically, to avoid signal
degradation, the maximum number that can be daisy chained
is given by the formula (1250/Z), where Z is the output
impedance of the equipment driving the enclosure. For
instance, a 100 ohm output impedance allows daisy chaining
12 inputs.

Important

A ferrite core must be incorporated into the input signal
cable of all models except subwoofer boxes to comply
with existing regulations on electromagnetic emissions. The
core will be placed in a cable loop as close as possible to the
input signal connector (see illustration).
