The basic procedure for assembling a cluster is as follows:
Firstly, once the boxes on the first row of the cluster are
placed as desired, the GB-Sling (optional hardware accessory)
slings have to be connected to the top tracks. Next, raise the
first row of boxes such that a second row of boxes can be
placed underneath. Mechanically connect the BB-Sling
(optional hardware accessory) slings to the bottom tracks of
the top boxes and then lower the cluster so that the slings can
be mechanically connected to the top tracks in the second
row of boxes. Repeat for more rows if needed.

6.4 Flying with Man Flying

(Only applicable to C-2 units equipped with Man Flying side
flying side rigging system)
With Man Flying, each box is suspended from two points
located on its sides. Thus, each box does not bear the weight
of the remaining boxes in a column. This allows greater load

bearing capabilities and the ability to construct clusters with
columns that have a large number of boxes. Columns can be
made weighing up to 1000 kg.
The system is based around three fundamental components:
First, there are the circular plates that are housed on the side
panel of the enclosure and which should be only used in pairs.
Secondly, there is the ANL-MF stud plate (see illustration),
which is inserted in the plate above, and allows lifting of the
box via chain or slings. Its working load limit is 600 kg.
Lastly, the back top and bottom edges of the box provide a
metal corner plate with a stirrup that is used to channel a pull-
strap.
This nylon strap is channelled through these and threaded
through a tensor (ratchet), which allows for the strap to be
tightened to achieve the desired tilt as shown on the
illustration.
The basic procedure for flying a loudspeaker cluster is as
follows:
Firstly, place the first row of speakers at the desired location.
Insert the ANL-MF stud plates on the boxes' side plates. Next,
hook the slings to the ANL-MF stud plates and lift the boxes a
few centimetres. Then, run the strap through the stirrups. Lift
this first row enough to allow for the second row to be placed
underneath. Insert the ANL-MF stud plates and run the tilting
straps though the stirrups like you did with the first row of
speakers. Repeat for the remaining rows.
To select the vertical tilting of a box, the length of the chain
sling that links a box with the box or rigging point directly on
top (A) should be shortened or lengthened. Shorter slings will
provide a reduced tilt, whereas longer slings will provide a
larger downward tilt. Therefore the use of slings of adjustable
length is recommended, such as chain slings with shortening
hooks. For the BBM-sling chain from DAS, the resulting pitch
angles as a function of the number of chain links shortened
with the shortening hook can be seen on the table below. The
illustration below the table shows the shorting of the chain.
