5.2 PREPARATION
• Know your power tool
It is important that you have read and understood the instruction manual and any labels
attached to the power tool. Learn about its applications, as well as its limitations and
potential hazards associated with this power tool.
• Work environment
Do not expose power tools to rain or use them in damp or wet locations. Keep the work
area well lit. Do not use power tools in areas where there is a risk of explosion or fire from
combustible materials, flammable liquids, paint, varnish, gasoline, etc. Regarding
flammable gases and dusts of an explosive nature, we advise consulting an expert on a
suitable fire extinguisher and its use as a precautionary measure.
• Personal protection
While operating the appliance, always wear substantial footwear and long trousers. Do not
wear loose clothing or jewellery that can be drawn into the air inlet. Keep long hair away
from the air inlets. Wear protective goggles while operating. To prevent dust irritation, it is
advisable to wear a face mask.
• Protect yourself against electric shock and fire
Before use, check the power cord and extension cord for signs of damage or aging. Do not
use the tool if the cord is damaged or worn. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces
(eg pipes, radiators, stoves and refrigerators). Use only a weatherproof extension cord
fitted with a coupler conforming to IEC 60320-2-3.
• Protect children and pets
Keep children and pets away from the work area. Do not allow children to touch or use the
tool or touch extension cords. All power tools should be kept out of the reach of children,
preferably stored or locked in a safe cabinet or room when not in use.
• Use the right tool
Select the right tool for the job. Do not use tools for a job for which they were not designed.
Don't force a small tool to do the work of a heavy tool. Do not use tools for unintended
purposes; for example, do not use a circular saw to cut tree limbs or logs.
Never operate the appliance with defective guards or shields, or without safety
devices (e.g. a debris collector) in place.
