CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Chimpäroo baby carriers, handmade by seamstresses, are meticulous in
every detail. There are several steps in the manufacturing process: cutting,
assembly, finishing, quality control and packaging. It is therefore important to
wash your EvöAir before using it with your baby.
We recommend against the use of washing and drying machines.
Hand wash by soaking with mild soap (for baby's skin). Some soaps do not
require rinsing and are excellent for baby carriers. Use lukewarm water and
do not wash it with light colors.
Hang in fresh air to dry. Avoid direct exposure to sunlight. A shady and dry
location is preferable. To speed up the drying process, squeeze out as much
water of the fabric as possible, particularly from the padded straps.
Do not iron.
WARNING: SUFFOCATION
HAZARD
Babies younger than 4 months can suffocate if their face
is pressed against a body. Don't tie your baby too tightly
against you. Leave space for your baby to move his
head. Keep your baby's face clear of any obstructions at
all times.
Beware of respiratory distress, particularly in babies from
birth to the age of around 4 months, and of the risk of
suffocation.
14
Your baby may risk lack of oxygen, suffocation or even
death if you don't follow these important guidelines.
Babies most at risk of suffocation include babies born
prematurely, those with breathing problems and babies
under 4 months old.
Until your baby reaches the age of 4 months at least,
always check that: baby's mouth is not obstructed; there
are at least two centimeters of space between the chin
and the chest to ensure clear airways; and that there is
sufficient air space around the baby's nose and mouth.
Place your baby upright. Place your baby's head to the
side and adjust the carrier snugly as instructed so your
baby's back is well supported (while slightly rounded)
and your baby doesn't slump. Make sure the fabric
doesn't hide your baby's face so you can watch them at
all times. Do not let your baby play with the baby carrier
unsupervised when you are not wearing it.
WARNING: RISK OF INJURY
AND BURNS
Do not carry your baby in front of you or on your hip
when cooking or handling dangerous objects. Be careful
when handling objects. You might drop it on the child.
Watch out for hot drinks and heavy or sharp objects!
Anything within reach of the child can also be a hazard.
Be careful when driving through congested areas. Check
distances carefully when you turn or lean to avoid your
child bumping into obstacles.
Make sure all buckles are secure and straps are snug
before each use. Regularly inspect your baby carrier.
Check the condition of the seams and the fabric. Do not
use the baby carrier if parts are missing or damaged.
