Troubleshooting
If your pump alarms during treatment, a visual LED light and audible alert will activate.
All audible alerts will beep until the issue is fixed.

Alarm
Types
Ensure that the dressing is sealed. The
Check Dressing
wound site should be firm to the touch
after the device reaches the target
pressure, and will have the wrinkled
appearance of a raisin. In the event of
the device detecting a minor leak, the
Check Dressing Icon will flash 5 times
on the screen in the lower right-hand
corner of the screen.
Canister Full
The device has detected that the canister
is full. The Canister Full Alert occurs
when the canister is filled with exudate.
The message on the screen will read
ALERT: CANISTER FULL. REPLACE
CANISTER. REMOVE CANISTER
FROM UNIT, REPLACE WITH A NEW
CANISTER, TURN UNIT OFF. ONCE
COMPLETELY OFF, TURN BACK ON
AND CONTINUE THERAPY.
The device has detected a blockage in

the system. The message on the screen
will read
DRESSING AND TUBING. ENSURE THE
CLAMPS ARE OPEN. PRESS MENU/
SELECT BUTTON TO CONTINUE
THERAPY.

ALERT: BLOCKAGE. REVIEW
If you have a
PUMP PROBLEM,

24-hour InfuSystem Nursing Hotline at

Likely Cause(s)
and What To Do
This notification will remain on the screen in the upper
right-hand corner reflecting a number to show the user an
event (Leak Alert, Check Dressing, Blockage, Canister Full,
Critical Battery or Low Battery) has occurred. The events
can be acknowledged by pressing Menu ¬ Alert setup ¬
Alert log, and then select each alert by pressing MENU.
Change the XLR8+ canister. Keep the device upright at all
times. A false alert will sound if the device is on its side.
NOTE: Dispose of used canisters according to the institution
and local environmental regulations.
Check the canister and port pad tubing to ensure that the
clamps are open. Check the tubing for kinks. Ensure that a
large enough opening (approximately the size of a quarter)
has been cut out of the dressing located under the port pad.
