CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
This guide should be used in conjunction with your organisation's Health & Safety policy, and the Airmax+
user instruction manual.
You should closely follow the processes outlined below. Use of non-recommended cleaning products or
methods may cause damage or degradation of your product. Suitable PPE should be worn whilst disposing/
cleaning/ decontaminating, depending on the potential hazards present on the product and your Health &
Safety policies.
Disposal
Used hoods may be contaminated and should be treated as potentially hazardous waste. When disposing,
please do so in accordance with your applicable waste disposal regulations.
Cleaning Surface Dirt
• Using a soft cloth dampened with a neutral detergent solution wipe down the hood, working your way
from inside to out.
• Rinse off with clean water.
• Leave to air dry, away from direct sunlight.
Deep Clean
• Using Chlorine wipes or a soft cloth dampened with a disinfectant solution (eg: a 0.5% chlorine solution
or a solution containing 5000 ppm available chlorine), wipe down the headpiece – working your way from
inside to out.
• Allow the chlorine solution to sit for 1 minute and then rinse off with clean water.
• Leave to air dry, away from direct sunlight.
Maintenance
Do not attempt to modify or repair your Soft Hood in any way, as this may affect the protection level of your
device. If worn or damaged, please dispose of immediately. If faulty, please contact the manufacturer using
the details provided on the back of this document.
WARNING: If any components are cracked, torn or damaged, they should be replaced immedi-
ately. Failure to do so may negatively affect the performance and protection of the respirator,
potentially resulting in user ill-health or even death.
STORAGE
When not in use, Soft Hoods should be stored in their original packaging, out of direct sunlight, not in con-
tact with solvents or liquids, and away from heavy items. Do not store outside the temperature range of 0°C
to 40°C or above humidity levels of 75%RH.
We recommend you to use the soft hood for a period of 12 months. The duration of use depends on various
factors such as way of use, cleaning, storage and maintenance. Frequent inspections and replacement in
case of damage are recommended.
