Turning a slot:
Rest gouge (well sharpened) on clamping jaw,
turn a slot from where a cutting tool (fixed to left
side of slide) can be fed.
AVOID:
"Rattling" because of bad machine adjustment
setting (see next point), unsightly surface of the
work piece, heating of the cutting tool.
WHAT TO DO IF ...
Rattling:
Mount fixation for turning tool U63 on U5, see
instructions page 15. Readjust tailstock, use an
additional support blade U40, sharpen the cutting
tool, check the assembling (the parts must be tight-
ly connected with each other).
The motor moves too slowly:
Loosen the tailstock, grease again, control
drive-belt.
The slide guiding is incorrect:
Clean, grease, control the backlash.
POSSIBILITIES:
Model making: turn axes, crankshafts, historical
models, ...
Build model railways, do repair work on machi-
nes or in the household.
Making small (steam-) motors (see accessories
VS 1602).
TECHNICAL DATA:
Suitable for soft, coloured and precious metals
up to 20 mm diameter (with 2nd counter shaft U2
up to 35 mm diameter).
Center distance 135 mm (with extra long machi-
ne bed – accessories 162 400 - extendable).
MATERIALS FOR PROCESSING:
Soft-aluminum, brass, copper (up to approx.
15mm). When using a thicker work piece, then
reduce the rotating speed with a second coun-
tershaft U2. When turning plastics use the rotating
center (accessories 162 450 or 164 450).
