Connecting CAN bus (control current) cables
The CAN-bus is a chain to which the E-LINE motor and panels are
connected.
The 12 volt battery is connected to the key switch. The key switch
takes care of switching the power supply of the CAN-bus chain on
and off.
The CAN bus power supply must always be connected to
12 Volt (≥10 V, ≤16 V). Use the E-DRIVE MPE1KB key switch as
power supply.

Startup sequence
Propulsion active (propeller moving) - Normal mode
Power mode active. Propeller not moving
Propulsion active (propeller moving) - Power mode
CAN warning - Blockage (overload)
CAN alarm - High voltage (alternating red/green)
Overheating warning (motor is limited but functional)
Overheat alarm
High motor current (voltage battery indication impossible)
Voltage ± 100 % *
Voltage ± 60-95 % *
Voltage ± 50-60 % *
Voltage ± 40-50 % *
Voltage ± 40 % (power is limited) *
Voltage ± 30 % (system does not work) *
Charging battery **
* Battery indication based on measured voltage. When continuously using more power the sailing range with the E-DRIVE decreases and
the indication will show a lower percentage. If the energy consumption is reduced (sailing slower), the indication may increase again.
Note: only indicative. Use a battery monitoring system for more exact data.
** This indication remains active until a few minutes after active use of the E-DRIVE. Only then will the battery indication be based on the
voltage.

Never connect more than one power supply to the
VETUS CAN line.
The panel is connected to the CAN-bus line. Multiple MPE1MB panels
can be connected per CAN-bus line.
When several E-DRIVEs are active on one CAN-bus line, the moni-
toring panel displays combined indications. In this case it is recom-
mended to install a separate CAN-bus line for each E-DRIVE.
