Connections and system start-up
Dear Customer or Installer.
Thank you very much for purchasing an EGi IP Multiroom system.
EGi's Multiroom IP amplifier modules are designed to soundproof homes, commercial or retail areas, generate different
musical atmospheres independently or in general, listen to quality music, both analogue and digital or in an internet
network.
They can be installed on site or in refurbishments. Thanks to their DIN rail format, they are easy to install both in
electrical panels and, even better, in telecommunications panels, or even in surface locations to be placed in the upper
part of the wall or false ceiling.
Its construction, with high-efficiency switch-mode power supplies and digital amplifiers, means that it hardly heats up
at all. However, we do recommend that the place where it is to be located is not completely sealed and that there is a
minimum of ventilation.
EGi recommends placing the Multiroom IP amplifier modules in a way that is accessible, as the external USB memory
must be accessible to upload music to the system and display status LEDs, which help us to check the proper functioning
of the system.
Multiroom IP amplifiers have multiple applications and vital connections, with the three MOST important connections
for proper operation being the following (Fig. 1):
• Mains power supply supported from 110 to 230 Vac, both 50 and 60 Hz (1).
• Direct connection to EGi low impedance loudspeakers in each zone to be loudspeakerised, with
a minimum impedance per zone of 4 Ohm, by means of 2x0.5 or 2x0.75 mm2 cable (such as EGi 05037 cable),
and can also be connected to 100 V line loudspeakers by means of EGi 05017, 05011 or 05005 transformers.
The output power of this module can be extended by placing ground isolating transformers, to line signals to
connect to other higher power amplifiers, using the FGA-22 transformer or other recommended by EGi (2).
• Connection to a Private Ethernet LAN network, through a router with WiFi network accessibility.
In order to enjoy all its features, the LAN network to which the Multiroom IP amplifier is connected must be
connected to the Internet. Otherwise, services such as Internet Radio, Spotify Connect and others will not be
available (6).
(However, in case there is no LAN or Internet connection, you can check the operation of the equipment through
the RESET button located on the front cover by performing the following steps below).

With these three connections successfully completed, we could download the free EGi APP ref. 42801, available in the
APP Store, both Android and iOS, and thus begin to operate the system comfortably and intuitively.
Installation steps:
Due to the fact that in many cases, when the system is going to be installed and connected, it is very likely that we will
NOT find a LAN or Ethernet network socket with WiFi and Internet (since the WiFi routers of the home or establishment
are not installed until it is delivered), the Multiroom IP modules allow the equipment and its connections to be tested
locally and directly from the equipment itself, without the need for any network or application.
For this purpose, the Multiroom IP equipment has a Test or RESET button on the front panel that allows us to check
that the equipment is working correctly, and that the speaker lines are properly connected and sound correctly one by
one.
To carry out this check, the following steps must be followed:
1. Connect all speaker lines with twisted or parallel cable of 2x0.5 mm 2 minimum, of two different colours to correctly
RESPECT the + and - polarity of the speakers. We recommend 2x0.75 mm 2 red and black audio cable ref. EGi
05037. Connect to terminals (2) of Fig. 1.
(The minimum impedance supported by each speaker line output must be equal to or greater than 4 Ohm).
2. With all the lines necessary for the installation connected to each zone or output (avoiding short circuits in these
lines), we proceed to connect the 110/230 Vac mains supply by means of the power supply terminal block (1) in
Fig. 1.
3. Power the line and check that the POWER LED lights up.
4. After 3 seconds, the SYSTEM STATUS, WiFi, BT ® and AMPLIFIER FAULT LEDs also light up.
5. If there is no LAN network connected to the Ethernet socket, or there is no router with DHCP and automatic
IP, after 15 seconds the SYSTEM STATUS LED will start flashing rapidly. This is because the equipment, by
default, asks the router for an automatic IP address, and if there is none, the LED starts flashing rapidly.
If there is an Ethernet network and a router with DHCP, the ETHERNET LED will light up, and, on receiving
an automatic IP address, the SYSTEM STATUS LED will light up with a steady light indicating that the
equipment has started up correctly.

If there is no LAN IP network, with the SYSTEM STATUS LED flashing rapidly, in order to continue checking
the installation we will have to make a short press on RESET on the front cover, and we will see that after
a second the SYSTEM STATUS LED will briefly turn off and then turn on again in green and fixed, starting
the system with a fixed IP address, such as 192.168.1.2.
6. After 2-3 seconds we will see all the output LEDs (OUT 1 to OUT 8) light up orange for 1 second, and
then they will turn off, leaving only the POWER and SYSTEM STATUS LEDs permanently lit.
7. In this step the equipment will be correctly switched on to be able to go on to the TEST tests.
To do this, by pressing the RESET button again briefly, the equipment will switch to TEST mode and will
progressively start to sound in each output indicating in English and Spanish Zone 1/Zone 1, ..., first in
output OUT 1, then in OUT 2, and so on up to OUT 8, starting again with OUT 1 in an uninterrupted
manner so that the installer can check speaker by speaker, zone after zone, not only the correct operation
of the speakers but also the corresponding zones.
During this process, while the sound sounds in each output or zone, the OUT X output LED of the
corresponding zone will light up, allowing not only an acoustic check, but also a visual check on each
LED on the front panel of the Multiroom IP equipment.
8. Once this process is finished, if we press the RESET button again, the equipment will finish with it and
will start another TEST, playing DEMO music in all the zones or OUT X outputs at the same time, together
with all the leds on in the zones, to acoustically check that all the loudspeakers are working correctly.
9. If we press the RESET button again with another short press, the equipment will indicate by voice the
number of the IP address taken (in english and spanish), either automatic DHCP or manual if we have
pressed the RESET button at the beginning. At the same time, all the zone LEDs will light up.
(This application is particularly interesting for installations with fixed or manual IP addresses).
10. Another short press on the RESET button will put the equipment in standby mode, with only the POWER
and SYSTEM STATUS LEDs lit, to either test again or to switch it off from the mains and wait for an
automatic IP LAN DHCP network with router at a later date.
NOTE: If you are going to reconnect to a router with automatic IP address or DHCP, we recommend that you
turn it off the mains and do not turn it on again until you have connected the router to the equipment.
RESET pushes summary (Fig. 2):
1. 1st short push:
(in case of NOT starting with automatic DHCP) start the equipment in fixed or manual IP mode 192.168.1.2.
(in case of YES to start with automatic DHCP) the equipment goes directly to TEST mode.
2. 2nd short push: the unit switches to TEST mode and Zone X/Zone X sounds for each zone, in english and
spanish.
3. 3rd short push: the unit switches to TEST mode with a DEMO song in all zones.
4. 4th short push: the equipment continues in TEST mode, indicating in english and spanish the IP address
that the equipment has at that moment.
5. 5th and last short push: returns to normal standby mode (ON).
6. Long push for more than 10 seconds: RESET to factory setting.
To use the complete device, connect it to an IP LAN network with DHCP, WiFi and internet connection.
