4. USE TIPS
- Keep your body and clothing away from the chain while the
chain saw is running.
Before turning on the tool, make sure the saw chain is not in
contact with any object. Failure to pay attention while using the
chain saw can cause clothing or body parts to become entangled
in it.
- Always hold the chain saw with your right hand on the rear
handle and your left hand on the front. Never hold the chain
saw with the opposite hand position, as this increases the risk of
personal injury.
- Always wear protective glasses and ear protectors. The
use of protective equipment for head, hands, legs and feet
is recommended. Wearing protective clothing will reduce personal
injury from flying debris or accidental contact with the saw chain.
- Do not use the chain saw on a tree. Using the tool while in a
tree can result in personal injury.
- Always keep a firm footing on the ground and use the chain-
saw only when it is on a fixed, safe and regular surface.
Slippery or unstable surfaces, such as stairs, may cause loss of
balance or control of the chain saw.
- When cutting a branch under tension, be careful of the kic-
kback force. When the tension in the wood fibers is released, the
branch could strike the operator and/or throw the tool out of reach.

- Be very careful when cutting bushes or young trees. Ligh-
ter material can catch the saw chain and whip or throw you off
balance.
- Carry the chain saw by the front handle, turned off and
away from your body.
When transporting or storing the chain saw, fit the guide bar
cover. Proper handling of the chainsaw will reduce the chances of
accidental contact with the moving saw chain.
- Follow the instructions to lubricate, tension the chain and
change accessories. An incorrectly tensioned or lubricated chain
can break or increase the risk of causing the saw to kickback.
- Keep the handles dry, clean and free of oil and grease. Oily or
greasy grips are slippery and can cause loss of control.
- Cut only wood. Do not use the chain saw for purposes other
than those intended. For example, do not use it to cut plastic,
masonry, or non-wood building materials. Using the chainsaw
for jobs other than those for which it was designed can be dan-
gerous.
