USB Data Logger
Step 3: Connecting your data logger
Make sure you have already installed the PicoLog software before you connect the data logger.
The data logger will not work without the software.
1.
Connect the data logger to your PC using the USB cable supplied. See the diagram below
for more information.
2.
Wait for your computer to install the data logger. While doing so it will display a message
or icon in the taskbar telling you it has found the device.
Run the software by clicking the new PicoLog 6 icon on your desktop. PicoLog 6 will

automatically detect and identify your data logger. You are now ready to begin data
acquisition.

The Data Sheet contains the latest speci昀椀cations for your data logger. We recommend that
you print a copy and keep it for easy reference. For detailed information on operating and
installing your product, you should consult its User's Guide. You can download PDF copies
of all documentation relevant to your data logger, including the Programmer's Guide, from

Software updates and replacement
You can download the latest versions of all Pico software free of charge from
www.picotech.com/downloads. The software will also check for updates on startup if the
option to check for updates is ticked in the PicoLog settings.
Using PicoScope

In addition to the PicoLog 6 software, the PicoLog 1012, PicoLog 1216 and DrDAQ data loggers
are also compatible with the PicoScope 6 software. This is available for free download from
www.picotech.com/downloads.
Writing your own software
PicoSDK, a software development kit with all the drivers and other 昀椀les you will need to develop
your own custom programs, is available for download from
