3. Assembly, installation and commissioning
3.1 Unpacking and fitting
• Remove packaging materials. Check all parts for transport damage. If any damage is
apparent, inform carrier immediately.
3�2 Trial run
• We recommend pumping the cylinder a number of times through a complete stroke
before use (also after extended periods without use). See chapter 4.
3�3 Aids to be supplied by the user
• Personal protective equipment. See paragraph 1.6.
• Safety blankets if not included.
4. Operation
4�1 General operation
WARNING!
• Never heat a job that is connected to the BETEX Hydraulic Puller as the
heat can damage parts of the BETEX Hydraulic Puller.
Remove the pulley remover from its case. Keep your place of work tidy. Remove excess
grease from the workpiece to be removed or mounted
4�2 Removing workpieces using an HPP puller externally
1. Unscrew the front ring from the puller, so that the
cylinder slides.
2. Turn the nuts of the pull rods slightly and slide the
rods outwards.
3. Check that the plunger is retracted.
4. Place the puller on the workpiece with the cylinder
centered on the shaft.
5. Slide the pull rods against the workpiece so that the
claws grip the rear of the workpiece. Secure the nuts
hand-tight.
6. Turn the front ring of the cylinder as far as possible to
the rear.
7. Check that the puller is still centered on the shaft.
Adjust if necessary.
8. Tighten the nuts of the pull rods.
9. Set the valve to 'ADVANCE' and pump 2 strokes until
everything clamps together. Check the centering once
again.
10. Place the lever into the holder.
11. Hold the puller tight with 1 hand and pump with the
other hand. The plunger presses against the shaft and
the workpiece comes loose.
12. Set the valve to "RETURN" and start pumping. The plunger should move back.
13. Clean the puller and store it after use in the carrying case supplied.
