NB: An opening on the side of the upper housing allows access to the grinding wheel for possible
deburring.
Rotate back and forth approximately 20°
The drill bit is well refined when it has the following characteristics:
A sharp tip in the middle of the wick.
Two sharpened and equal cutting edges.
Two edges slightly lower than the cutting edges.
1) Edge
2) Centre point

3.2.
Adjusting the grinding wheel
Turn the adjustment wheel to the right in order to instal the wheel. This gives a more incisive
sharpening. This is also useful when working with short drills.
Lower the wheel by turning the wheel to the left, for a finer ground edge. This takes more time and
requires more repetitions.
4. Maintenance
You must keep the tool sharp and clean to provide better performance safely.
Follow the instructions for lubrication and replacement of accessories. Cheque the implement cables
periodically, and if damaged, have them repaired by an authorised technician. Keep the handles dry,
clean, free of oil and grease
4.1.
Replacing the wheel (refer to exploded view)
1. Change the grinding wheel (5) if obvious grooves or scratches appear on the surface.
2. Remove two screws (9)
3. Remove the split head block (1,2 and 4A)
4. Remove the wheel block (3 to 6). Ensure that spring (7) remains in place.
5. Unscrew the adjustment cylinder (3) from the centre-to-centre distance (6) by turning anti-
clockwise.
6. Remove washer (4).
7. Dismount the centre-to-centre distance (6).
8. Insert the new wheel on the centre-to-centre, replace the washer and screw the cylinder back on.
9. Place the grinding wheel block back onto the instrument. Make sure the bottom planes of the
adjustment cylinder match the outside planes of the drive pin (11).
