1. APLICACIONES DEL EQUIPO
El transiluminador Nahita le permite la visualización de DNA en geles de agarosa teñi-
dos con bromuro de etidio. Está equipado con 8 tubos fluorescentes de 312 nm (UV-B) y
un amplio filtro UV.
Sobre su base el equipo dispone de una campana de observación que sirve de cámara
oscura ofreciendo protección frente a los rayos UV, eliminando interferencias y aumen-
tando el contraste.
La campana de observación está equipada con una puerta frontal para manipular el gel
cómodamente y una amplia ventana de observación que reduce la fatiga ocular.
Dispone también de lámparas de luz blanca para iluminación del reciento interior. Para
ello hay disponibles lámparas de otras longitudes de onda como 254 nm (UV-C) y 365 nm
(UV-A).

There are two 8W light tube sockets in the cabinet, you may insert UV (254 nm (UV-C)
or 365 nm (UV-A)) or white light tubes provided in these sockets to get an illumination
from upside. It can meet different experiments requests.
Security
The transilluminator must be used by previously qualified staff that knows how the
equipment works thanks to the user manual.

Follow all required applicable laws about safety and health (electrical security devices,

inflammable, toxic and/or pathological products, etc.).
Do not place the transilluminator near any warm supply (burners, blowlamps, etc), nor
expose it directly to the sun. Avoid vibrations, dust and dry environments.
During its functioning dangerous materials such as flammable or pathological substan-
ces must be out of the safety area.
When you are not using the transilluminator for a long period of time please make sure
it is unplugged in order to avoid possible accidents.
It is essential to have the equipment switched off and unplugged from the net before
cleaning, checking components or replacing any piece (e.g. replacement of a fuse).
Never try to repair the transilluminator by yourself, since you will lose the warranty
and may provoke damages to the general operating system or the electrical installation,
as well as injuries to the people that usually handle the equipment (burns, hurts...).
Sorry not to spill any liquid on the control panel, though it is properly insulated. In case
you have any doubts do please immediately unplug the transilluminator (see
Maintenance).

To get the best results and a higher duration of this equipment it is essential to follow
the processes of use.
Note: All the processes of use mentioned below will not have any value unless you keep
a continued and careful maintenance.

Always use original components and supplies. Other devices can be similar but they
can damage the equipment.
The transilluminator is supplied with a Schuko standard wire. It has to be plugged to
an earth connection and the socket should be handy and ready to unplug the equipment
