3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
GB
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
If the unit is to be put out of operation de-
finitively, take it to a local recycling plant for
a disposal which is not harmful to the envi-
ronment.

Applications
These active speaker systems are ideally suited for PA
and DJ applications like live performances of small
bands, dancing events, etc. The model PAK-212 is
equipped with a 30 cm bass speaker and the model
PAK-215 with a 38 cm bass speaker. The high fre-
quencies are each radiated via a horn tweeter. The
rms power is 300 W.
Both models have a limiter circuit for level limita-
tion, a 3-way equalizer with bypass switch, a subsonic
filter, and a subboost function (both can be switched
on/off). It is possible to connect either a microphone or
a unit with line output level (e. g. mixer) to the balanced
input. A feed-through output allows connection of an-
other active speaker system.

Setting-up and Connection
1) The speaker system can be placed on the floor as
desired: either put it edgewise on its three feet or in
a flat way on its four feet so that the sound will be
radiated diagonally upwards. Via the stand sleeve
on the lower side of the unit it is also possible to
place the speaker system on a PA cabinet stand
(e. g. a stand of the PAST series from the "img
Stage Line" product range).
2) As a signal source it is possible to connect a micro-
phone or an audio unit with line output level (e. g.
mixer, CD player, MD or cassette recorder, etc.).
Connect the signal source via an XLR plug or a
6.3 mm plug to the balanced INPUT jack (4).
Note: When connecting a stereo unit to this jack,
insert a stereo mono adapter (e. g. SMC-1 from
MONACOR), otherwise the signals of the stereo
centre will delete each other mutually due to the
balanced input circuit.
3) The fed-through input signal is available at the
balanced XLR output LINE OUT LINK (3). To this
output the input of another active speaker system
may be connected.
4) If for PA applications in addition a passive speaker
system (without amplifier) is required, it may be
connected to the jack EXT. SPEAKER (11). The
minimum impedance of the speaker system must
be 8 Ω. The additional speaker system is connected
in parallel with the internal speakers so that the rms
power of the amplifier is increased to 500 W.
5) Finally connect the supplied mains cable to the
mains jack (14) and to a mains socket (230 V~/
50 Hz).

Operation
CAUTION Never adjust a very high volume. Perma-
nent high volumes may damage your
hearing! The human ear gets accus-
tomed to high volumes which do not
seem to be that high any more after
some time. Therefore, do not further in-
crease a high volume which has once
been adjusted after getting used to it.
1) With the button MIC/LINE (7) adapt the input sen-
sitivity to the connected signal source: disengage
the button in case of connected audio unit with line
level; with connected microphone the button must
be pressed.
2) Switch on the connected signal source.
3) To prevent switching-on noise, turn the control VOL
(10) to zero prior to switching-on. Then switch on
the active speaker system with the mains switch
POWER (13): The upper LED AMP. ON/PROT. (2)
shortly shows red up after switching-on (protective
circuit activated, unit muted) and then changes to
green (normal operation).
4) Adjust the volume with the control VOL (10). From
a certain volume, the lower LED NORM. (2) lights
up to the rhythm of the music.
If the level is too high, the central LED LIMIT. (2)
lights up to show that the integrated limiter circuit is
active. The limiter circuit serves to limit the signal
level: If the level exceeds a defined maximum
value, it is adjusted downward to this value by the
limiter circuit. If the LED LIMIT. should light perma-
nently, turn back the volume control correspond-
ingly.
5) To switch on the equalizer (12), press the button
EQ (9); with the equalizer switched on, the LED
next to the button lights up. By disengaging the but-
ton, the equalizer can be bridged (switched off), if
required. With the equalizer controls LO (bass fre-
quencies), MID (mid-frequencies) and HI (high fre-
quencies) adjust the desired sound. With the con-
trols in mid-position the sound is not affected.
6) By pressing the button SUBBOOST (5) it is possi-
ble to boost the lower bass range, if required. With
the subboost function switched on, the LED next to
the button lights up.
7) Subsonic sound or other low-frequency interfer-
ence can be suppressed by connecting the sub-
sonic filter: Press the button SUBSONIC (8). With
the filter switched on, the LED next to the button
lights up.
8) When setting up several speaker systems, the
sound waves of the systems may show a different
phase. This may cause undesired attenuation of
certain frequencies. To balance this, the active
speaker system has a phase reversal switch, the
button PHASE (6), by which the phase of the audio
signal can be turned by 180°. Test both positions of
the button – pressed (LED next to it lights up) or
disengaged – and choose that position which offers
the best reproduction.
