4.4 Speakers
Connect the speaker/speakers to the mono out-
put of the power amplifier (21): two 6.3 mm jacks
connected in parallel. The total impedance of the
speakers connected must be 4 Ω as a minimum.
– When connecting a single speaker, connect
it to one of the two jacks (SPEAKER 1 or
SPEAKER 2). The minimum impedance of the
speaker must be 4 Ω.
– When connecting two speakers in parallel,
connect one speaker to the jack SPEAKER 1
and the other speaker to the jack SPEAKER 2.
In this case, the minimum impedance of each
speaker must be 8 Ω.
4.5 Power supply
Finally connect the mains cable provided to the
mains jack (20), then connect the plug to a mains
socket (230 V~ / 50 Hz).
5 Setting the Powered Mixer
into Operation
1) Prior to switching on, set the control MAS-
TER (10) to "0" to prevent switching noise
and excessive volume.
2) Depending on the type of microphone con-
nected, either engage or disengage the button
PHANTOM POWER (7) [see chapter 4.1].
3) Switch on the audio sources connected first,
then switch on the PMX-162 with the
POWER switch (18). The LED POWER ON
(8) will light up. If an additional power ampli-
fier for PA application has been connected to
the PMX-162, switch it on last.
After operation, switch off the units in
reverse order:
1. the additional power amplifier
2. the PMX-162
3. the audio sources connected
6 Operation
6.1 Mixing input signals or fading
input signals in /out
The following operating steps merely serve as
an aid; other procedures will also be possible.
1) For basic setting, first set all controls GAIN
(5), the control CD / TAPE (11), the control
USB (15) and the control EFFECT (12) to the
left stop and set all tone controls of the chan-
nels (4) and the controls of the 5-band equal-
izer (6) to mid-position.
2) Set the control MASTER (10) for the overall
volume approximately to mid-position so that
all further adjustments will be reproduced via
the speaker/speakers.
3) Mix the input signals with the corresponding
volume controls or fade them in and out as
desired:
– control GAIN (5) for the audio sources con-
nected to the channels 1 – 6
– control CD/TAPE (11) for the unit con-
nected to the CD INPUT (22)
– control USB (15) for the USB player (16)
If an audio source is not used, always turn
back its volume control to zero.
4) Adjust the sound for each input channel sep-
arately with the tone controls (4): TREBLE for
the high frequencies and BASS for the low
frequencies
5) With the control MASTER (10), adjust the
definitive volume of the master signal which
is fed to the speaker output and correct the
sound of the master signal with the 5-band
equalizer (6). The equalizer will mainly com-
pensate for poor room acoustics or suppress
feedback by attenuating certain frequencies.
The level of the master signal will be dis-
played on the LED level indication (9).
CAUTION Never adjust the speakers to a
very high volume. Permanent
high volumes may damage
your hearing! The human ear
will get accustomed to high
volumes which do not seem to
be that high after some time.
Therefore, do not further in-
crease a high volume after get-
ting used to it.
6.2 Adding an echo effect
An echo effect may be added to the signal of
each input channel 1 – 6. This echo effect will be
created by a digital delay circuit: The signal will
be stored and, with a delay, added to the original
signal.
1) With the controls EFFECT (2), adjust the sig-
nal part to be fed to the internal effect proces-
sor for each channel. The further the control
is advanced, the more intense the effect for
the channel. If no effect is to be added to a
channel, set its EFFECT control to "0".
2) Adjust the overall volume of the echo effect
with the control EFFECT (12).
3) Adjust the desired sound of the echo effect:
The control ECHO (13) will change the num-
ber of echo repeats; the control DELAY (14)
will change the delay time.
6.3 Operation of the USB player
The USB player (16) will replay compressed
audio files created with the current most com-
mon compression procedure from USB storage
media, e. g. from USB flash drives or from USB
hard disks (FAT 32) with individual power sup-
ply.
1) If no USB storage medium has been con-
nected, the display of the player will show "No
Udisk. Please Add Udisk". Connect the stor-
age medium to the USB port (17). After read-
ing in, the display will show the total number
of titles ("Total songs: ...) and the message
"Please enter key".
2) To start the replay of the first title, press the
button
. To start the replay of another title,
select it with the button
title) or
After starting the replay, the titles will be
replayed continuously one after the other.
All rights reserved by MONACOR
manual may be reproduced in any form or by any means for any commercial use.
The display will show:
– in the upper line: the title number and a
name (artist / title) of six characters followed
by an arrow and a number. The number
behind the arrow is used to distinguish
between titles with identical names.
– in the lower line: the insertion "Play" and a
time indication changing every three sec-
onds between the time already played and
the total replay time of the title.
3) Adjust the desired volume of the player with
the control USB (15).
4) To pause the replay of a title, press the but-
ton
: The display will show "Pause" and the
time indication will stop. After pressing the
button
the spot of the title where it was paused.
To stop the replay of a title, press the but-
ton
: The display will show "Stop" and the
time indication will stop. After pressing the
button
ning of the title.
5) To repeat a title continuously, press the but-
ton
deactivate the repeat, press the button once
again. "REP" will disappear.
