Mounting
It is mandatory to have a galvanic connection between the sensor head and an earthed container (or ad-
ditional electrode)! With metal containers the BE-connection (function earth) is normally made through
the threading of the sensor to the metal container. With non-metal containers the connection to the BE
electrode is made by means of a cable via a M3 threaded hole at the rear of the probe.

Connect the probe to your control panel (according to the connection diagram) and connect the BE-cable
(function earth) afterwards.

The potential BE has to be connected to the container potential! This connection should be made over
the shortest distance and routed with straight wire. (Shortening or lengthening of the cable is possible,
using a single-lead cable 0,25...1,5 mm
Please take note that the use of a DC / DC-transducer calls briefly for a higher current than the operat-
ing current when initially switching on the equipment. Therefore the power supply must have enough
low-impedance!

After mounting the probe, the connection head of the probe can
be turned to the desired position. This is made by loosening the
3 screws in the hexagon socket with a 2 mm Allen key. When the
probe is in the desired position, fix the screws again.

M = Measuring range
IBS = Non-active range shield
The measuring range must not be mounted in the area of the con-
tainer where there is a change in the cross section; for example
the cone.
The probe can be mounted in the centre of the container or just off
to one side. For a measurement to be independent of the filling cone,
we recommend that the probe be mounted at ¼ of the diameter.
The minimum distance between the end of the measuring range
and the container's lid is 50 mm.
Connect the BE (function earth) through the process connection
or by means of the rear screw connection.

• Disconnect the system from all power
• Connect the probe according to the connection diagram.
• Switch power on.
