5. Faults
5.1. Fault: Device does not start.
Cause:
● Power cable defective.
● Device defective.
● The humidity set on the device is higher than the humidity in the room.
● REMS Secco 50: The condensation tank (9) is not pushed in completely.
● REMS Secco 80: 11.5 l condensation tank (9) (accessory, Art. No. 132100)
was inserted incorrectly in the REMS Secco 80.
● REMS Secco 80: Condensation tank switch set incorrectly (5).
5.2. Fault: On reaching the humidity set on the device, the device does not switch on or off.
Cause:
● The controller only switches the device on/off when the humidity exceeds/
drops below the set humidity by 3 % (REMS Secco 80) .
● Continuous operation is set.
5.3. Fault: The device switches off although the humidity set on the device has not yet been reached.
Cause:
● The unit can ice up at cold ambient temperatures and/or in continuous oper-
ation. The icing LED in the REMS Secco 50 lights up (Fig. 6 (18)). In the
REMS Secco 80, the icing symbol (18) appears in the display (2).
● Power cable defective.
● Device defective.
5.4. Fault: The dehumidifi cation performance diminishes.
Cause:
● Air fi lter (Fig. 6 (28)) or air fi lter mat/air fi lter fl ap (Fig. 3 (17)) dirty.
● Using the device reduces the humidity, this also reduces the amount of
condensation.
5.5. Fault: In the REMS Secco error messages E1 or E3 are shown in the display (2).
Cause:
● The humidity of the room is outside the measuring range ≤ 30 % or ≥ 90 %
of the REMS Secco 80.
● Sensor for measuring the humidity is defective.
5.6. Fault: In the REMS Secco 80 error messages E2 or E5 are shown in the display (2).
Cause:
● Sensor for compressor temperature monitoring is defective.
5.7. Fault: In the REMS Secco 80, error message E4 is shown in the display (2).
Cause:
● 11.5 l condensation tank (9) (accessory, Art. No. 132100) is full.
● Condensation tank switch set incorrectly (5).
5.8. Fault: REMS Secco 50: Condensation tank LED (6) fl ashes.
Cause:
● Condensation tank (9) is full.
5.9. Fault: REMS Secco 50: Icing LED (18) fl ashes or lights steadily although the compressor is not iced up.
Cause:
● Device defective.
Remedy:
● Have the power cable replaced by qualifi ed personnel or an authorised REMS
customer service workshop (REMS Secco 50). Replace power cable. (REMS
Secco 80).
● Have the apparatus checked/repaired by an authorised REMS customer
service workshop.
● No dehumidifi cation necessary or correct the humidity setting on the device,
see 3. Operation
● Push in the condensation tank as far as it will go.
● See 2.4. 2
● See 2.3. 2 and 2.4. 2
Remedy:
● Wait or correct the humidity setting on the device, see 3.
● Change the operating mode, see 3.
Remedy:
● In the REMS Secco 50, the fan continues running, the compressor switches
off. After the ice has thawed, the compressor switches back on, the icing LED
goes out and dehumidifi cation/drying continues. REMS Secco 80 is equipped
with an automatic hot gas thawing system. This is regulated by the device. The
device starts the dehumidifi cation/drying automatically after thawing, the icing
symbol (18) switches off. Switch off the REMS Secco 80 if icing occurs at short
intervals. Wait until the ice has thawed completely. Then continue dehumidifi -
cation/drying.
● Have the power cable replaced by qualifi ed personnel or an authorised REMS
customer service workshop (REMS Secco 50). Replace power cable (REMS
Secco 80).
● Have the device checked/repaired by an authorised REMS customer service
workshop.
Remedy:
● Clean/replace parts, see 4.1. Maintenance
● Check whether the dehumidifi cation/drying can be set.
Remedy:
● Set the device to continuous operation, see 3. Operation
● Have the device checked/repaired by an authorised REMS customer service
workshop.
Remedy:
● Have the device checked/repaired by an authorised REMS customer service
workshop.
Remedy:
● Empty the 11.5 l condensation tank.
● See 2.3. and 2.4.
Remedy:
● Empty the condensation tank.
Remedy:
● Have the device checked/repaired by an authorised
REMS customer service workshop.
