4. Connection & charging
Check the identification plate at the back of the UPS to make sure that the power supply is
compatible with network voltage and that the device is powerful enough to protect the
given load. Plug the UPS into a 2-pole, earthed outlet. Then, use your computer-related
devices to connect to the back of the UPS.
For best results, it is recommended to charge the battery at least 4 hours before initial use
of models up to 800 VA and at least 6 hours for 1000 up to 2000 VA models. The UPS
charges its battery as far as it is connected to the mains even if the UPS is off. 600 & 800
VA models are equipped with a 3-stage charger to optimize battery performance. 1000 VA
model and higher are equipped with a super smart charger that allows 90% battery charge
within only 4 hours.
5. On/Off
To turn the UPS unit on, lightly press the power switch. To turn it off, press the power
switch again. Make sure that the power switch is kept in the "ON" position, otherwise the
UPS will be disabled and your equipment unprotected in the event of power failure.
Note: For maintenance purposes, please turn the UPS on before the PC and other loads,
and turn it off after the connected loads are turned off.
6. DC Start
E2 LCD units are equipped with an integrated DC start function. To start the UPS in the
absence of a power supply and with a full battery, simply press the button.
7. Power Saving Function
E2 LCD UPS range features a green technology switch mode charger that allows to
charge its battery very fastly & generates 50% energy saving compared to a classic UPS.
This range is also is equipped with a Power Saving Function. If no load connects to the
UPS, it will automatically shut down after 5 minutes to save energy during a power failure.
The Power switch must be kept in the 'ON' position, otherwise the UPS will be disabled
and your equipment will not be protected during a power failure.
8. Connect Modem/Phone/Network for surge protection
Connect a single modem/phone line to a surge protected "IN" outlet on the back panel of
the UPS unit. Connect the "OUT" outlet to the computer with another phone line cable.
Caution: The telephone line lightning arrester could be rendered inoperable if improperly
installed. This surge protection device is for indoor use only. Never install telephone wiring
during a lightning storm.
Note: This connection is optional.
8 . C O M P U T E R I N T E R F A C E
To prevent an abrupt computer system shutdown, connect a USB cable to your computer.
Then you can install and use the automatic shutdown software (Free download from web
site).
The USB communication port at the back of the UPS enables the computer to directly
control UPS status.
The main functions are as follows:
- Transmission of a visual alarm in event of power failure
- Automatic file closure prior to the battery going flat
- Computer & UPS shutdown
