Protecting the device

When the devices are running they need sufficient air supply.
If you use batteries, remove them if the devices are not used for a long period as they
could otherwise leak.
Switch off the devices after use.
Protect electronic devices from moisture.
The devices must under no circumstances come into contact with liquids. Therefore make
sure that they are not submerged under water and that no liquid gets inside the casing.
Protect electronic devices from temperatures above 40 °C. Therefore do not leave the
device in strong sunlight and never place it on hotplates or close to other heat sources.
Defective devices must not be used.
Never carry out repairs yourself; contact your dealer if the need arises.
Never use caustic detergents to clean the devices as these could damage the plastic
surfaces.
Clean the devices with a dry or slightly moist cloth. For professional, gentle cleaning, use
products from Vivanco's cleaning range.
2.5

Using the AC adapter plug

Connect the device only to a correctly installed mains socket with voltage which
corresponds to that given on the nameplate of the AC adapter plug (C and E).
Make sure that connecting cable is not positioned so that people could trip over it.
Make sure that the connecting cable is not pinched, crushed or stretched.
When using an adapter or an extension cable, make sure that these comply with valid
safety regulations. The maximum current given must not be exceeded.
2.6

Battery packs and batteries

Keep battery packs and batteries away from children.
Do not try to charge used, non-rechargeable batteries.
Batteries and battery packs must not be thrown away with domestic rubbish.
As a consumer you are legally obliged to return used batteries/battery packs. You can
hand them in at your nearest collection point or wherever batteries/battery packs of the
kind concerned are sold. We also take back batteries/battery packs free of charge.
If you wish to return your old batteries to us, please send them marked "Used!" to the
following address:

Connections / setting up components

Before connecting to the power supply, check whether the voltage given on the nameplate
of the adapter corresponds to the local mains voltage.
If you want to use batteries, remove the batteries from the compartment in the speaker
and disconnect the AC adapter plug if the system is not used for a longer period.
3.1
Transmitter
1.
Connecting the AC adapter (D) to the transmitter (A).
Connect the power supply cable of the AC adapter plug to the connection socket (A4)
provided on the back of the transmitter. Then plug the AC adapter into the
corresponding mains socket.
2.
Connecting to the stereo audio source
If your stereo audio source is fitted with a jack socket (e.g. headphones output), use
the audio connecting cable (A3). Connect the end of the cable to the headphones
socket of the stereo audio source.

GB
If the jack is too small for the headphones socket you can use the adapter from
3.5 mm to 6.35 mm jack (F).
If your hi-fi appliance, television or stereo audio source is not fitted with a
headphones socket you can also use an RCA output (e.g. AUX on hi-fi power
amplifiers) via the stereo Y connecting cable (C). Make sure that the plug and socket
colours match: (right = red, left = white).
The connecting cables used (e.g. audio cables) should not be longer than 3m.
3.
Setting up
Now switch on your stereo audio source (TV, hi-fi system, etc.) and make certain it is
emitting an audio signal.
When using volume-adjustable headphone sockets, make sure that the volume level
is turned up high enough (roughly in the middle position).
The transmission function is signalled by the glowing red power-on indicator (A1). If
there is no signal the transmitter (A) and the power-in indicator (A1) automatically
switch off after approx. 120 seconds.
Please note:
The transmitter automatically switches itself off when there is no audio signal
for a prolonged period or the input signal is too weak. The transmitter
automatically switches itself back on when there is an audio signal. Make sure
the volume level is correct; headphone sockets often have their own volume
control.
3.2

Speakers as receiver

1.
Connecting the AC adapter plug (E) to the speaker system (B).
Before you begin to operate the speaker system, connect the power supply cable of
the AC adapter plug to the connection socket (B8) provided on the back of the
transmitter. Then plug the AC adapter into the corresponding mains socket.
2.
Using batteries
If you want to use commercially available batteries, insert them as described in
Chapter 4 "Inserting and replacing batteries".
3.
Setting up
To switch on the speaker system, press the On/Off switch (B5). Watch the power-on
indicator (B2). If it glows red, your loudspeaker system is ready for use. If this
indicator does not come on you must first check the connection of the AC adapter
plug (E) or, if applicable, replace the batteries (see Chapter 4 "Inserting and replacing
batteries").
Then turn the channel selection wheel (B6) until your speaker system finds the
transmission channel (A2) you previously set on the transmitter.
Holding the speaker system, move about 3 metres away from the transmitter. If you
are receiving interference, select a different channel (A2) on the transmitter, then
turn the channel selection wheel (B6) again to the transmitter setting.
You can subsequently adjust the volume using the volume control (B5).
4.
After use, press the On/Off switch (B1) again until the power-on indicator (B2) goes
out. The speaker system is now switched off.
Please note:
You should now be able to move from room to room holding the speaker without
any reception interference. When receiving over long distances, the signal
becomes gradually weaker. This is indicated by an increase in background
noise or reception breaking down altogether.
Disturbances could possibly be caused by other appliances or interference. You
should then select a different channel (A2) and then turn the channel selection
wheel (B6) to the transmitter setting again.
